Not in my experience, they don't. And I deal with this stuff all the time.

Re: Which Seymour Duncan pickups sound the most like Fender Texas Specials, but bette

The SSL-1 was originally called "the SSL-1". The "California 50 set" marketing name came much later. Most people still know it as "SSL-1" and are confused if you actually refer to it by the "California 50's" name.

SSL pickups all have product names. SSL-1 = Vintage staggered, SSL-3 = Hot strat and so on...

We just use "parts code" names of them because it 's easy to type.

When people here use parts numbers when referring to pickups, I have NO idea what pickups are being referred to without looking it up. Which I seldom actually do unless I have a need to do so.
I for one would much rather see pickups referred to by the names and not the numbers (when possible).

Of course, clearly. That's the way the world works.

Its funny, this guy makes bold claims, then suddenly the fallacy of his position becomes obvious and he 'runs for the hills'. Trying to distract and change the scope of the argument. You can see even in the quoted posts above mine how he's attempting to re-frame........pathetic really. Posting under his alter-ego on other forums he does exactly the same thing.

Talk talk talk, you're still wrong. I never said there was anything wrong with marketing. You couldn't even quote me saying such a thing. Keep on talkin'

I would say most pickups are better recognized by their marketing names. But someone asked "What pickup name is not marketing?", and so I pointed out the SSL-1 and SSL-5 as examples of pickup models that are better known for their non-marketting names. I don't believe the SSL-3 even has a marketing name, it seems to have been forgotten with time.

I could say the opposite, I didn't even know the Hot For Strat was actually the SSL-3 until now.

You seem to have a problem with reading comprehension today, AlexR. You read into something that simply wasn't there and now you double-down with the same lie....pathetic really.

See how that works? The irony, it burns.

Can you quote me claiming that marketing is "wrong"? Are you up to the challenge?? This thread is barely two pages long, it shouldn't be that hard.

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/de...MItb_Z3_WK2QIV2BSPCh1FSQ5dEAkYASABEgJ_XfD_BwE look at a product listing for the SSL-3 on sweetwater, I don't see that they even call it "Hot For Strat".

From the listing you posted: "Seymour Duncan SSL-3 Hot Strat Single Coil Pickup - White"

From Seymour Duncan:

"HOT STRAT SSL-3

The Hot for Strat will deliver more output and midrange than your Stratocaster ever has..."

Sometimes I wonder if Gregory and PicoRiveraTele are the same guy.

They post in pairs and kind of shadow each other.

And like each other’s posts.

And seem to have similar personalities.

No, as a matter of fact, I can't; neither can AlexR.

He's good at launching into calling others' behavior as pathetic as if it magically makes him right.

Be prepared for some PMs demanding you leave the exclusive club.

So is it "Hot Strat" or " Hot for Strat"?? Im so confused, I might just choose to spend my money elsewhere now.

So when being intellectual dishonesty, doesn't work launch into the "he's a sock puppet" meme.

I have never said anyone or their behavior is "pathetic", either. It's in poor form for you to continuously put words into my mouth, and then evade when I ask you to quote what I actually said.

If I was admin I'd lock this thread right now.

Lol. You might want to see who I quoted when I pointed out the hypocrisy.

But hey, Lew seems to suspect we may be the same person.
