Which tremolo for SG ?

I had Vintage VS6 SG copy of gibson. the pickups are SH6 & Jazz. it's perfect for everything from early classic metal to killer thrash riffs and solos. and it got Gotoh SD 90 tuners. and all shielded inside.. the thing is... i was thinking to mount some tremolo on that guitar, i saw a couple of videos of Bigsby that you don't need to change anything... but is it good for crazy abusing tremolo system for metal, or should i try something else ?

bigsbys are not really meant for divebombing and aggressive tremolo usage.

A kahler might be a good idea, or maybe the floyd rose that was designed for the les paul...not sure if it'd fit an SG but worth comparing dimensions at least.

There is not tremolo you can attach to an SG short of routing it for a Fender trem or floyd rose that is good for real wang usage

A Bigsby or Maestro is more suited for surf and subtle dips in pitch.

If you want to go crazy with the wang bar either Floyd or Khaler. Bigsby will let you shake a chord or note a lil to give it some flavor but for dive bombing no.

Re: Which tremolo for SG ?

Even if you route it you'll need an ultra short block and then you have to deal with the neck angle. By the time you get all that sorted you've removed a good section of wood from an already light/thin body. It will not sound the same as it does now. I personally hate bigs, and all you'll get out of it is a deepish vibrato, but you won't be able to divebomb, and good luck keeping it in tune if you really wail on it.

Tools for the job bro, get a shred stick.

There are some tremolo bridges that go on in place of a stop bar but the guitar in question is almost cor sure using metric hardware so I have to agree with the above statement...

Get another guitar for trem usage.

Jacksonish shredsticks are a dime a dozen these days... You could find something cool that costs as much as a Bigsby...
