Which Wah Pedal should i get?

i feel like i need a wah pedal because ive gone for 3 years now without using one.. i know i should check the wah pedals to see which one i like the best, but i want a good idea first from you guys..

ive been looking at dunlop pedals, the Zak Wylde Signature, Dimebag Signature, Slash signature, and the 535Q Cry baby..

i play metal and i want something that wont colour my tone, and something that wont add piercing high end. if anyone has experience with these pedals please let me know what your thoughts on them are.

The Buddha wah and the Morley wah were the only ones i have tried that were "transparent".. but my personal taste leans towards the squonk you get from a dunlop. I've had the normal, Hendrix, & 535 versions and the Hendrix is my favorite but you really do need to go try them all out, bring your own guitar (if it isn't something you'd normally find at the shop) so you can see what it does to sounds you are familiar with.

I use a Crybaby 535. Has a bit of hiss, but maybe that's normal for wahs. I think it's a decent pedal for the cash-I paid about 60 at GC w/some haggling.

For your metal tones, Id go with the Zakk Wylde one. It was designed to be played with low notes and gives a very chunky low end (doesnt crap out) when you put the pedal all the way back. And when you go all the way forward, it isnt overly harsh in the high end. My friend uses it with his BASS paired up with a Fulltone Bass Drive, and hes got one of the thickest bass sounds I've ever heard, even with a mediocre small amp and a standard Fender P Bass.

I have the crybaby classic, which is pretty similar to the Zakk Wylde wah, only tweaked for more vintage sounds and not as fat or heavy, and it doesnt affect the tone too bad when its off. When its on, it will a little bit, but for what you are looking for, I think the Zakk Wylde one will be the best.

IMO id say Vox..but since ur into metal and I never used a vox for that...id say go for dunlop crybaby :P

The wah connoisseur in me says Fulltone, Teese, or Budda. (I have the Clyde Deluxe and used the Budda for years).

The joneser in me says get the sexy new Slash wah. That thing looks COOL!

If you go dunlop i'd say get a Crybaby from Hell(Dime sig). It works great under gain, but can be set for pretty much any wah tone you could want. I've been using it for years and still like it.
But last friday it got taken from my pedalboard and exchanged for something else(the CFH now is my backup):
My recently acquired Morley Mark Tremonti Power Wah which is just the best Wah i've ever used.
It's a full sounding wah without harsh top-end. The actual tone is a bit of a mix of vintage and modern, what imo sounds great for metal. It's very transparent and basicly noiseless(use the original morley power supply it will make a huge difference compared to other adapters). Well, the switchless operation makes it great for metal since you can wah single notes or harmonics in a solo and let them scream(can't really do that with a standard wah). And it has a gain-bosst installed. The boost won't be much use with clean sounds, but once you come to metallic saturated gain tones, it's killer. The boost give the wahed notes some extra edge and can result in some crazy sustaining harmonics.

I don't play much but metal ... I use Bad Hoarsie I, its perfect for metal, I have to agree with Chief here, the Morley sensor technology that turns whah on upon the contact of your foot with a pedal, I do the individal notes and double stop slides in the riffs as well as in the middle of bends and things like that which really color up your playing, I have it after my tubescreamer it is completely transperent.

535Q is very adjustable and can make any sound that I need it to. I would recommend that (mine has a fasel inductor, I don't know if it's standard, but I would suggest you look for one with a fasel too . ..)

+1 for the Bad Horsie. I have the Crybaby, Vox 847 and Bad Horsie. I find myself using the Bad Horsie most for the heavier stuff. No tone loss while off, stepping on to turn on and off to turn off is perfect for mixing wah into your heavy riffs, and it sounds killer when soloing.

thanks for the input guys.

i get to try out a zak wylde wah soon cause my friend has one.. if i like it enough i think i'll get that without the trouble of trying a bunch.. but i wanna try these all now!

Check out the Slash signature, I havent tried it yet but it looks so cool. The Dime and Wylde wahs are safe choices.

I have used a Dunlop GCB-95 for years, it works great for me, although I've just ordered an Ibanez Weeping Demon, when it arrives I'll let you know what I think of it!

i had the dime wah and it was nice but now i have a morley tremonti and i'll never look back!!! i do like the features of the new slash wah but the ease of on/off with the morley tremonti is what sold me on it. just move it and it's on, let go and it's off, no extra button to push and no need to push down the pedal onto the button to turn it on and off so you can turn it on and off real fast for just a quick wah burst.
