Who here is using the Twin tube classic?

I just ordered the SFX-03 from Musictoyz.com and will have it tomorrow, I thought the clips sound real good on the SD site. If you use it I would like to hear about your thoughts on this pedal and what gear you use it with!

I will be testing mine out with a Les Paul Classic loaded with SD-59's into a Fender 65 Deluxe Reverb RI and a 59 Bassman RI.

Thanks for any Input!

I'll give you a week with it;)

Wow if it lasts one week that means I like it  , I've sold pedals hours after I have tried them. Anyway hopefully it will be to my liking!

Re: Who here is using the Twin tube classic?

Yeah the Barber Direct Drive sounds very good with both my amps it's the only high gain pedal I have left, also using the Fulltone FD-2 Mosfet! I figure if I need more gain than the SFX-03 can supply I can push it with the FD-2.

Sounds like a good plan:)
How is that mosfet part sounding on those red boxes?

I like it a lot, it's less compressed and sounds a little more open and there seems to be a better low end with it as well as a better presence. It's not a major change but it is very noticable, when my 65 DRRI is on the verge of break up the FD-2 shines in that mode and blends into the amp nicely.

I've got both pedals & doing just this with a Celtic Edana (JTM45)....works beautifully:bigthumb:

I think you'll like it:D

Thanks man, You think this will work well with both my Fender amps 65 Deluxe Reverb RI and 59 Bassman RI! I cant wait to crank it up! Just got my email notification from UPS and will definitely have it tomorrow!:bigthumb:

Re: Who here is using the Twin tube classic?

I'm the furthest person probably on the Forum from a Fender guru (although a Pro Reverb is on my horizon :D ) ,but I think it should go perfectly with the Bassman.

I take it you're using the Bassman for rhythm & the DRRI for crunchy or leads.

It'll definitely put a smile on your face when it turns your Bassman into a 3 channel amp :D

Re: Who here is using the Twin tube classic?

I have one, but I'm still in the honeymoon phase. This unit sounds incredible through my Silvertone 1482. Gives it a nice warm dose of dirt and no color of it's own. The 1482 still sounds like a 1482, but with more gain. Exactly what I wanted this pedal to do. I haven't been able to do thorough testing with the Edana yet. Just a really quick plug and play with no time to fiddle with it. No dial in time means that I haven't truly explored this union between pedal and boutique amp.

Re: Who here is using the Twin tube classic?

Jeez, half the posters in this thread are running a Twin Tube Classic into one of Scott F's Celtic amps. There's gotta be some great tone goin on there!

Re: Who here is using the Twin tube classic?

I've had mine for a few weeks. Played my humbucker PRS's through a fender blackface pre-amp/6L6 amp and it really sounded great. Past few days I have been playing my p-90 McCarty through a vox ac 30 style amp and equally impressive!

Re: Who here is using the Twin tube classic?

I'm not running the Edana through proper speakers just yet. I can't give her a fair shake out until Mojo gets through rebuilding the cab I bought from them. I'm buying something they had laying around and I'm having it modded and loaded with their Mojotone G12H30 clone speakers. I wanted a cane grillcloth to cover the entire face of the ext cab instead of leaving it open and wiring it to 16 ohm. Should be good IMHO once all that gets done. No head is going to sound good if it's not running through a proper cabinet.

That isn't to say that it doesn't sound good. When ran clean through the cabs I have, it sounds stunning and with certain pedals it sounds good distorted. It's just missing a little of the Marshall character it's supposed to have and I think that boils down to the speakers/cabs etc.

Well got the twin tube classic today I'm a little dissapointed but it just did not gel with me and my Deluxe Reverb. Anyway long story short I sent it back but glad I got to try it out, for what its worth its built very well!

Re: Who here is using the Twin tube classic?

Man maybe it is time to get some other amps into your setup??
You seem to look for that British voice, why not get the amp that does that and then try the various pedals again??
From where I sit I see too many Fender amps there:D

Actually I thought about going back to Marshall amps but the Barber Direct Drive so far does the Marshall thing for me very well with my Fenders!

Re: Who here is using the Twin tube classic?

Man, sent it right back; nothing like spending some quality time with it :D

No luck with the Bassman either?

That's surprising...sucks it wasn't for you.:dunno:
