Who Loves Floyd Rose's?

Re: Who Loves Floyd Rose's?

im kinnda indiferent i own one floyd rose guitar. its good for some stuff but they are mostly a pain in the arse. plus if you wanna pull up on it constantly you can have super low action.

Re: Who Loves Floyd Rose's?

i love them.....and i have never encountered serious probs with mine (always blocked against the body).......i find them to be the only system that can give you the best tuning stability under any use.

Re: Who Loves Floyd Rose's?

i both love and hate them equally. dive bombs rock. tuning and restringin does not. and mine breaks strings every ten minutes.

Re: Who Loves Floyd Rose's?

I could get some amazing sounds out of the one guitar I've own with a Floyd (Stagemaster). But, I didn't feel it was worth the hassle. Plus, I've never really been a trem man. Notice I spelled that with an 'e,' not an 'i.'

So I have to lean towards hate.

Re: Who Loves Floyd Rose's?

I LOVE 'em! Mine are blocked off and only go down, so I have no tuning problems and the string changing doesn't take up too much extra time. I like having the ability to 'put eyebrows' on certain notes, chords, or noises. Plus, my main thing is that my double locking Floyd equipped guitars STAY in tune much better than my non Floyd guitars. I love my Tele, but I can't play a song without having to retune. Same with my Les Paul. Not so with my Floyd guitars. I prefer a Floyd guitar even if I'm not using the bar simply for the tuning stability.

Re: Who Loves Floyd Rose's?

i love them and have them floating so i can get those cool little warbles ! now changing/breaking strings sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm with shnook on this...the floyds never go out of tune...

Re: Who Loves Floyd Rose's?

Love it.

Changing strings doesn't bother me, and only takes me about 10 minutes these days (plus another 10 to stretch and re-tune). It sounds good, does nifty tricks (mines full floating), and stays in tune forever.

That said, never gig without a backup.

Re: Who Loves Floyd Rose's?

I love them, but I know for a fact that they can be a hassle. I'll only have a few Floyd loaded guitars.

Re: Who Loves Floyd Rose's?

I love them on the right guitar, if they are set up properly. 99% of all Floyd problems occur because people don't know how to set them up properly, or they use cheap imported versions made of shoddy materials. I wouldn't want one on all my guitars, and I wouldn't think of putting one on a guitar like a Les Paul. But having at least one Floyd guitar opens up a whole new dimensions of sounds that you can't get from a hardtail, or from a vintage trem without tuning issues. The tuning stability of a properly set up Floyd is amazing, although I prefer mine set for downward use only to maximize sustain and eliminate any tuning problems.

The licensed versions just don't cut it, you need to go with an original Floyd or a Schaller Floyd for best results. There are a few exceptions, such as the Peavey Wolfgang trems and some of the high-end Ibanez trems, but for the most part, stick with the original or the Schaller.

I love mine so much, I wish they made a fixed bridge with fine tuners and a locking nut.

I couldn't have said it any better myself...

Re: Who Loves Floyd Rose's?

I'd also suggest the gotoh floyd copy as being one of the ones that works well and stands up to abuse.

Floyds are a part of my history, and I'll always be fond of them, even though I prefer fender style vibratos these days. I'll always have one floyd guitar, though. The part of me that will always be a kid is the same part that wants to yank on a floyd.

Y'know what I want? -an original logo floyd rose t-shirt.

Re: Who Loves Floyd Rose's?

It's my bridge of choice. Floating, setup with medium-heavy strings (11-60), tuned nice and low :D

I actually do think that Floyds are an asset to low tunings, providing extra articulation.
