Who really loves the Gibson color of "Heritage Cherry"?

Maybe it's just me but I feel like any Gibson that comes in that color it's like "eh bummer, nice guitar but it's got the most generic color that Gibson makes". Am I nuts?

Re: Who really loves the Gibson color of "Heritage Cherry"?

I feel the same way, but my dislike goes back to the plain maple Clown Bursts of the 80's. I prefer the aged bursts- Ice Tea Burst, etc...

I like heritage cherry; just seems to fit on some gibson models.

Re: Who really loves the Gibson color of "Heritage Cherry"?

It's by far my least favorite finish... I love bursts of other shades but I'd never buy a heritage cherry burst, I'd buy a white LP before that. sorry.

I like it as a monochrome color over mahogony. Its transparent and really shows off mahogony well. I don't like it over maple as part of a burst.

I just refinished a PRS Standard using Heritage Cherry and I think it looks good. This photo doesn't do it justice with the flash glare and flash bleaching:

I like it on some acoustics...but that's pretty much it.

Re: Who really loves the Gibson color of "Heritage Cherry"?

it's like, hey, yea we didn't try very hard on this one so it's heritage cherry. sorry.

Re: Who really loves the Gibson color of "Heritage Cherry"?

Are you talking about the red dye, or the red-yellow clownburst?

My answer changes radically depending on which of the above you mean.

Let me clarify; what I said above was about cherry sunburst. I absolutely love the straight cherry color. Yummy!

Heritage Cherry would be the solid color (because if it were a burst, it would have 'burst' in the name). I only care for it on 3 iconic guitars: a dot neck 335, the earliest version(s) of the SG and Brain May's Red Special.

and yeah I know that last one is not a Gibson, but it is the same color.

Love the Heritage. Far better than Tobacco Sunburst to me and for solids I like Cherry WAY better than the walnut brown look on SGs.

However, I LOVE Iced Tea and Lemon Bursts, and others in that range...

There is only One color for a SG IMO, and thats Heritage Cherry. A 335 has to be Heritage Cherry or Tobacco burst.

I hate it. I call it birth canal burst. It reminds me of a baby's head crowning during child birth.
