WHO REMEMBERS THEIR FIRST GUITAR????

Re: WHO REMEMBERS THEIR FIRST GUITAR????

My first guitar was an acoustic with action about half an inch high....lol. The brand name was Marinucci.

Re: WHO REMEMBERS THEIR FIRST GUITAR????

My first guitar ever was an acoustic spanish style guitar my dad got for my younger brother Aldo who was meant to take guitar classess. He abandoned so I took it over for about 3 or 4 years before I would get myself a Fender strat. That acostic went back to my paretns home and youngert brother Milton played with it for a while. It is still there in parents hose in my broder's bedroom. Now that you bring that memory to me, I started trying to play classical music all self learning and one thing that got stuck and I sill do because of that is havinf the guitar in the same position as if I was sitting playing classical guitar :), I just can't make the guiat hero pose with the guitar all the way down like Jimmy Page :(

Re: WHO REMEMBERS THEIR FIRST GUITAR????

It was a I don't remember the model Harmony I bought from a friend from $20. Looks like someone tried and failed to make a swirl out of it. The action was horrific. But with a lot of gain and some power chords you couldn't tell the difference.

Re: WHO REMEMBERS THEIR FIRST GUITAR????

I still have it, Epiphone SG Special II in cherry. I have a love/hate relationship with, but I think it just needs a really good setup and fretjob and it'll be fine again.

Re: WHO REMEMBERS THEIR FIRST GUITAR????

My first guitar was an early '60s Harmony archtop acoustic. My first electric was a red mid to late '60s Fender Duo-Sonic.

Re: WHO REMEMBERS THEIR FIRST GUITAR????

My first guitar was a cheapo Jackson Kelly; a K10 Pro. It wasn't horrible in the grand scheme of things, but the electronics were kind of suspect and it was REALLY neck-heavy. I fought with it for a couple months before I got my Gibson Explorer; later sold the Jackson to fund my Charvel Model 4.

Re: WHO REMEMBERS THEIR FIRST GUITAR????

My first actual guitar was a $5 3/4 size nylon-string acoustic, that was so warped it was un-tunable. (Not that my 11-year old hands could turn the tuning pegs, I had to use a pliers to turn some of them) My first electric (in 1984) was a Hondo II LP-copy, plywood, bolt neck, fake humbuckers. I also got a "Crate CR-19" amp, which I kept until fairly recently

I traded it for THIS

1973 Pontiac Ventura, more a collection of rust holes, than an actual car... But it got me to school and work, instead of walking everywhere.

Re: WHO REMEMBERS THEIR FIRST GUITAR????

First (was an) Acoustic - Kay (or Kaye) cheapo with high action and gruesome tone. Yuck.

First Electric was an Epi(phone) strat. Red with a white pickguard and two single-coils. I'd max out the gain on a 25w solidstate Epiphone amp and try to play like Metallica on it. I didn't know the difference between single-coil pickups and humbuckers then. No wonder I sounded so !@#$%y. lol

My first guitar.....

One day in December of 1991 I was helping my folks wrap Christmas presents and my Mom sent me to the junk closet to dig out some more wrapping paper. Well, it was kinda burried and I had to dig for it, and while doing so I ran across the cheap acoustic that my Mom got for her birthday back in the early '80s when I was little. It said Global on the headstock and was generally a cheap piece of s***. So I went ahead and brought it out with the wrapping paper. From then until the neck literally fell off I played it as best as I could. My folks couldn't afford anything like lessons or lesson books, so I had to figure out things on my own or by ear.

About a year and a half later in June of 1993 I got my first job and wound up bartering with a coworker for my first real guitar and amp, a Charvel Dinky and a Peavey VTM120 half stack. It was awesome compared to that crappy acoustic. I still have that amp, but unfortunately I ended up selling the Charvel.

My first guitar was for my 15th Birthday in 1991. It was an Aria Pro II JS Series Black on Black HSS Pointy Headstock Strat style guitar... Had a nice neck on it...

It looked just like this when new, but I wore the fretboard down in several spots..

Mine was a Silvertone Model 1468 from 1962. It was made for Sears by Danelectric and sold for about $67. I traded a $28 flattop for it. I don't know what ever happened to it but I'd love to have it back. They go for about $500 now.

Mexican Fender Strat. I did some modding a year after i got it, and its still one of my favorites in the collection. :)

Re: WHO REMEMBERS THEIR FIRST GUITAR????

Teisco Del Rey. It was a Christmas gift and it came in a triangular box, I thought my parents had bought me a V.

Re: WHO REMEMBERS THEIR FIRST GUITAR????

Univox Hi Flier in the mid 70's. It had a natural finish with see through humbuckers. Dont remember it much or what happened to it. I got it with a Gibson SS combo, a G10 I think it was. Had a Hondo LP copy a few years later. Sold that. Then an Aria Cardinal Series Pro II in see thru blue in the early 80's. Pretty nice guitar. It was stolen.

Re: WHO REMEMBERS THEIR FIRST GUITAR????

1st Guitar was an Alvarez Regent Acoustic in 1989. Christmas Present from my Girlfriend who became my 1st wife and mother of my children. Shredded my fingertips for a year on that damn thing.

1st Electric was an Epiphone Cherry Sunburst Les Paul Standard with the Open/Gibson-ish Open Book Headstock Shape that I picked up at a Pawn Shop in San Diego, CA in 1989 and bought with recyling money. Left it bone stock and it was a very nice guitar.

2nd Electric Guitar was a Squier MIJ Strat in Arctic White with W/B/W SSS Pickguard, Rosewood Neck which was replaced with a Warmoth Boat Neck Rosewood Neck, the pickups and pots were upgraded - Seymour Duncan Cool Rail/Vintage Rail/Hot Rail, and, Graph Tech Saddles and String Trees installed.

1st Amp was a 1989 Fender Solid State Princeton Chorus 2x10 and I had an Alesis QuadraVerb GT Effects Unit.
