Who uses Loopers?

Re: Who uses Loopers?

I'm admittedly not sophisticated enough to use a looper... My POD HD500 has a looper function built-in, which I've mostly used to loop rhythm sections of annoying/boring songs for my wedding band, so I can make funny faces and wave my hands around in the air seemingly by magic.

Re: Who uses Loopers?

I have a boomerang III and I consider it the centerpiece of my entire rig. It totally changed the way I write, and even though it took six months or so to get competent, it's hard to imagine making music without looping now. I'm hooked! The key is making sure the first loop is locked in perfect so that all the other loops sync up, at least in sync mode, which is my favorite way of using it. I also use my memory man for looping at the same time, especially if I want to time shift and make it sound sort of "out there."

It's definitely a precarious operation for live use, but I've performed live with this rig a few times now even though I had serious trouble locking in a couple loops I was discreet enough that nobody was the wiser. One trick I find helps a lot is to have a short pause before ending the loop -- it helps get rid of the click that happens when loops repeat, and it helps me hit "one" more consistently.
