hi
i need replacement for my epihone les paul
vintage output
blues to mild rock
would the WLH be too much, as i still want to play clean???
i think they are better than the 59's...
alternatives?
thx

Re: whole lotta humbuckers

Welcome to the forum.

The WLH pair would be fine. Learn from Page's example by making good use of your guitar's volume pots.

Re: whole lotta humbuckers

59's, PGs, APs, WLH all great choices over stock setup, I am sure. To appreciate the investment in upgrading to Duncans, do a complete rewire on it. Epi's components are not the greatest.

I just upgraded my Gibson LPJ to a Duncan PGb, which I know really well, but the cheap components are limiting it's potential.

Re: whole lotta humbuckers

WLH set is really cool, but there are quite a few choices that might be perfect for you.
Blues to Mild rock covers a lot of ground...can you name some artists or records where you really like the tone to help narrow it down?
Also..what amp setup are you using?

WHichever pickups you go for, follow audiocheck's recommendation of replacing all the wiring and componentry.

Re: whole lotta humbuckers

hi
well i have fender amps, a marshall JTM... building a clone trainwreck
for les paul i like all the classic blues guys... some rolling stones,page...
not really a hardrock guy
i was thinking bare knuckles mule, pearly gates...
i'll be fine as this guitar is a tool
thanks all

Re: whole lotta humbuckers

I couldn't be happier with my WLH set. Complete rewire and WLH set in a Gibson Les Paul Studio. It is tied with my SG for my favorite sounding guitar. I doubt that you will be disappointed.

Re: whole lotta humbuckers

Welcome to the forum! WLH set, or a set of Pearly Gates would be great. i have a set of PGs in my gibson lp and they cover ALOT of ground from cleans to pretty heavy stuff.

Re: whole lotta humbuckers

I don't think you'd be disappointed with the WLH set, and they do clean just fine, there's nothing to worry about on that score.

Re: whole lotta humbuckers

yeh. wlh set is great. I use them with fender amps and im sure they would kick a JTM right where it hurts. Big and bold sound - great for cleans and for that stomping power tube crunch sound of the early 70s. Plenty of all the good stuff. Can't go wrong really.
