Re: Who's done Warmoth?

I bought a Warmouth strat-style guitar from a friend of mine and played it for 7 years. Excellent quality and feel; highly recommended.

Re: Who's done Warmoth?

i built my entire strat from warmoth (with the exception of the dimarzio). they are a great bunch of people to work with. i really suggest calling them with any questions you have, they are very helpful. as for the quality of their work, its top notch. i couldnt be happier. they did everything i asked for better than i expected. the finishes on both the neck and the body are all i was expecting and more. really, you cant go wrong.

Re: Who's done Warmoth?

I like them alot. I would get one over a fender anyday.

Re: Who's done Warmoth?

The last two responses pretty much sum up my feelings. I originally had a Fender Strat body, and I had planned on putting a Warmoth neck on it. When it arrived, the neck fit was extremely loose, it didn't even touch the sides of the neck pocket. At first I thought Warmoth had screwed up my neck, but after researching it for a while, I found out that Warmoth's tolerances are actually much more precise than Fender's. All the Fender owners told me the same thing, "Fenders are supposed to be like that, they never have a tight fit between the neck and the body." There was no way I was going to use that body, so I decided to sell it and get a Warmoth body. I found a nice one in the Showcase, and when it arrived, the fit was absolutley perfect, much better than with the Fender body. The neck is beautiful as well, perfect fretwork, great looking woods, and no finish required. I'm just finishing up the final assembly, I should have some pictures up in the next week or so of my completed project.

ive been thinking of doing a warmoth RR. i emailed about a couple concerns i had and they were real helpful....but unfortunately they dont do string-thru yet. they said theyre working on it though. so i guess ill have to wait

Re: Who's done Warmoth?

i've got a warmoth matte black pickguard custom cut for a mini hum in my tele that's great if that helps hahaha...seriouslyy though, tatooedcarrot has a real nice white with blue racing stripes strat he built and another (soloist i think?) with an amazing top and he seems to like both alot....hopefully he will chime in.

Re: Who's done Warmoth?

I just recently bought a warmoth strat off ebay and its gotta be the most toneful guitar ive ever ever played...and i didnt even used to be much of a single coil fan!

It just plays and sounds brilliant, and feels as solid as a rock. Fantastic quality parts and tone-full woods, both make for an excellent instrument far superior to most you find on the shelves.

I didnt used to be a believer, but now id take my warmoth strat over any shelf strat ANYDAY!

Re: Who's done Warmoth?

I've done several Warmoth projects, which are on my site.

I've also worked with USA Custom Guitars on a couple projects, and that's another worthy option.

It kind of depends on what you're doing. It's all about options and quality.

For me, I wanted my own specs. For instance, the original Fender company offered guitars in any of their custom colors for a 5% upcharge. To get something as simple as a regular strat in a custom color these days makes it a Custom Shop order, with a serious upcharge.

Re: Who's done Warmoth?

I've put together 3 Warmoth's.. I had to sell of my strat to get money for recording, but I was definately sorry to see it go. I'm currently rebuilding one of my Warmoth LPS guitars (I wanted a thicker neck with binding).

I've had nothing but good experiences with Warmoth.. my emails have always been answered quickly and professionally, and every phone conversation has been pleasant. The guitars themselves are of excellent quality. Just make sure you know what you're doing when you put them together.. I do what I can by myself, then take it to a pro to finish the details such as nut and frets.

Re: Who's done Warmoth?

looks like USA customs is the more efficient way to go......but they dont make RR's so i gotta go warmoth. haha

Re: Who's done Warmoth?

jackson doesnt make em like this though......

i know im gonna do it eventually. i got the entire thing planned out. mahogany body, maple neck & fretboard, sharkfin inlays, locking tuners, mirror or brushed aluminum pickguard (still deciding), 6100 frets, string thru, EMG 85 or 81 bridge and 60 neck, metal pickup rings, possibly those piston knobs if i can get a hold of some, and aside from the cost of getting the pickguard made i have the price calculated down to the damn capacitor! :laugh2:

Re: Who's done Warmoth?

that kisakae tele site. that was the first place to have the guitar maker thing. i remember spending hours on there when it first came out.

anyway, thats pretty much exactly how i want it to look. i wasnt sure what color inlay i wanted, but warmoth said it only offered black on maple fretboards for specialty inlays, so that made up my mind.

Re: Who's done Warmoth?

I think of Warmoth as an alternative to a custom shop, not an alternative to production. If you're getting a regular spec strat, just get a strat. But if you want your choice of woods, colors, bridge or pickup configuration, neck wood choices, fret sizes and all that outside of what's offered on a standard production guitar, then Warmoth will get you there cheaper than a custom shop order.

Here's the two I made.

Re: Who's done Warmoth?

Gary, have you contacted Warmoth regarding the problems with your VIP body and neck? I've always had good experiences with Warmoth, but I have heard some complaints from others.
