Why are these not more popular ?

Re: Why are these not more popular ?

I like the hardtail and ebony fretboard version , nice guitars have seen a few different ones online. I could get over where it is being built if I got a good deal on one.

Re: Why are these not more popular ?

I can't get past the aesthetics personally...

Fair enough.

The funny thing for me is . . .

. . . i love my 5150, and i have a big soft spot for this guitar (ever since i tested one a few years ago), but i am NOT a fan of the man, nor his band - never was.

Re: Why are these not more popular ?

I have respect for EvH as a player but he just seems to put his name on everything today like most players now. Not sure on these Music Man style EvH guitars as they're not found in my area so I could play one to say more, but I feel like a decent Chinese Music Man with a good floyd and the EvH pickups would be equally as good at a lower price. I wouldn't say the Wolfgang is popular but it's definitely not unknown to players.

Re: Why are these not more popular ?

A lot of the Chinese EVH's I've seen in person had rough fret edges, but once you take care of that, the guitars aren't bad. I have no idea about the Japanese ones though.

Man, i have a 'pet-hate' when it comes to rough fret ends and messy body binding (if there is body binding involved)

Re: Why are these not more popular ?

Rough/sharp fret ends are not a big deal to me since I usually dress them on most of the guitars I buy anyway.

I just can't get along with the aesthetics/body style. It's kind of a mix between Jaguar and Tele. Either look great, but the combination is hideous.

Re: Why are these not more popular ?

GuitarDoc has nailed it,
I was always defferential about saying so, but the first time I saw one of those years ago, I thought, "That is the ugliet guitar I have ever seen. And it was made like that by a pro on PURPOSE!" Still, to this day, if some one gave me one I would trade it in for a Squire. Or a bunch of guitar strings. I feel much better now. That guitar is buuuuuuuttttttt uuuugggllyyyy!! I sorta don't care for it. Even if Jesus himself played one. I know I have to stop. But really!
SB
Edit: That is one ugly guitar.

The aesthetics seem to change depending on what finish it has on it; the black one looking rather the worse for it. That said, it's not a guitar that grabs me too much. I'd be looking eslewhere first if I wanted something with an FR on it.

Re: Why are these not more popular ?

No idea why the trem isn't recessed too ? Makes no sense to me ? I could go for the hardtail with ebony board , rest notsomuch , looks mean nothing to me.

And here i am . . . thinking i am the only one who does not like Van Halen.

Sorry Phil X, i know you are a HUGE fan of the man and the band.
