Why can't I dig on Les Pauls?

Re: Why can't I dig on Les Pauls?

I think on one of the things Seymour was hoping for back when he created these forums, was that members would swear and yell at other members. You've helped make his dream come true.

I don't think that Seymour would want people trashing the choice in instruments, the preference of pickups, the taste in music, or the "black shirts" of others.

I doubt that Seymour would want a fifteen page thread filled with passive agressive BS between two people over potentiometer values.

I doubt that seymour would want some guy steering people away from his products based on the opinion that, "It sounded thin in my guitar."

Its easy as hell to defer the blame onto other people over the internet but there are plenty of people that will agree with me when I say that Agile is not the problem.

Have a good night.

Creating your own version of history, I see. Pot, meet Kettle.

Seymour did not create the forum.

Seymour IS one super :cool3: d00d, though. He's cool enough not to take offense at your continual trashing of his product line and choice of magnets. He's :cool3: enough to realize that your opinion of the JB has absolutely no impact on the beauty of its design and plethora of applications, even in a *gasp*MAHOGANY GUITAR!

Rick, you need to realize when you are wrong and when your arguments hold no water whatsoever.

your biases against strats, strat players, strat pickups and whatever it is that forces you to shout the virtues of LPs from the mountaintops at every opportunity are fine and all, but realize that it's just your opinion, not the gospel truth, and certainly not something against which all people here should base their gear decisions.

also just for the record, playing guitar at all does make you cool, whether you can play well or not. If you play crappy, you're cool. If you play decently, you're super cool. The only exception is if you're a mastermind and can play circles around anyone you meet... then you sorta automatically become ultra un-cool, except to other guitarists.

As the moderators have clearly said recently, they want open, candid discussions. They don't expect Duncan products to be blindly praised; they want honest feedback on where their products work best, and where they don't. Unlike you, they want the good and the bad to be talked about. This is a very useful tool for them; we users do far more testing thru far more gear than they can afford the time and money to do. Maybe you want sugarcoating, they don't. This forum isn't here just a marketing device to 'steer' people to Duncan products, it's also where the company can learn what actual users think about their products, why they buy them and why they don't. That's valuable information for any company. Seymour absolutely needs to know what players think which PU's of his 'sound thin' in what guitars. Or sound muddy or harsh. They don't set rules about what we talk about, or how long we talk about them. They do not want the kind of control you seem to think they need. That restricts the free-flow of ideas and opinions that they value. We are the think tank and guinea pigs. They've put our PU suggestions into production, they ask us to design PU specs. In the past few years they're using more using twice as many kinds of alnicos than they used to; geez, I wonder if all our magnet talk influenced them? Ya think? Sorry, this isn't the white-washed, tightly-controlled forum you want. I've seen 'Agileguy' in some arguments, and I wasn't the one he was argiung with; so he's no angel himself.

What they do ask is simply that members not blow up, swear, and personally insult other members; a few individuals seem to lack the self-control to do that.

I want a tightly controlled forum? You clearly have no idea of my opinions whatsoever.

I'd be more likely to agree with you if you didn't treat your opinion like the be all end all word from God's mouth.

You touched base on the open policy of discussing pickups which I'm all for. You failed to touch base on any of the other points I made.

Would you care to continue or can we end this conversation here?

That's why Dean, Schecter, Ibanez, ESP, G&L, Godin, PRS, Fernandes, Jay Turser, Michael Kelly, Hagstrom, Seventy Seven, Greco, Suhr, Samick, Yamaha, etc., etc., etc. exist.

So we have a last line of defense.

This made me curious, does any long-termer know if Seymour has ever posted, or otherwise participated in this forum? More than once or twice someone has pondered out loud how these utter break downs of civility reflect on Seymour Duncan. Evan Skopp had said that he founded/started the forum. I kinda get the feeling Seymour might not care too much how heroic we are or are not being here.
