Why do I keep buying toy guitars??

Re: Why do I keep buying toy guitars??

This should be your next guitar if you're worried about the weight.

Re: Why do I keep buying toy guitars??

I can't imagine a Gibson feeling like a toy guitar. Every time I pickup one of those PRS SEs thats another story though. lol

Hey J, snap the headstock off and glue an Epi one... there's your 2 pound right there! Lol.... looks like a great guitar mind.

Re: Why do I keep buying toy guitars??

first great guitar i had was a 76 Les Paul... it weighs in at a ton... thing is a true anchor! Akmost all other newer Les Pauls play and sound better then my old 76... but i do miss the weight... but i'd get used to that quick enough for the sound...

after my les Paul started acting up with a neck twist i had it in teh shop for months and months while they did major neck surgery.... i put together an extra light Basswood parts strat to strum while i waited and waited... that strat felt so light... but it had a HUGE MAC TRUCK J BRAKE tone that i loved! until i smashed that one up it sounded amazing!

Weight is something all players i'm sure factory in when playing a guitar for the first time.... but if a twigg sounded good i'd use it more often over a log anyday these days

My ESP Ltd EC400/401 LP clones are the full thickness and weight of LPs. They have that fat LP tone too. But the ESP Eclipse that just found its way to me is a thin-bodied model and VERY lightweight. I wasn't sure I was gonna like it. But it's just SO resonant and lively compared to the thicker-heavier ones. When I pick it up, I swear that it plays and sounds twice as well (and that's why I'm buying it). So now I find myself swinging back from the "it MUST be thick and heavy" school, to the "if it sounds, feels, and plays just as well (or better), then why not save my back" school.
