Re: Why do I want a ESP HETFIELD TRUCKSTER so bad??
I dunno, I respect James Hetfield VERY highly. IMHO he's one of the best in terms of raw talent for a rhythm player AND a vocalist. Most his rhythm felt like lead to me when I was learning, and some of it is downright complex to sing while playing, to be honest. Would take a ton of practice to get both vocals and rhythm guitar memorized to the point where they both go on "autopilot."
Anyways, back to the guitar, I've never been a "OMG! I MUST HAVE ACTIVE EMG!!!" movement. I mean, pickups are pickups, and I respect those, but to me they sound way too clinical. The recent Dave Mustain (sp?) active set to me was like "OMG LET ME PUT BATTERIES ON MY FAV PUPS!" I respect DM also, but still.... I played an Epiphone Zack Wilde sig guitar with the passives (EMG H4? Z4?) and it sounded just as good to me, but still clinical. But hey, to each his own. But me, if I got my pick, I'd rather pay for the most expensive LP-ish ESP with SD passive pickups rather than be given a free Truckster. I'd just sell it and buy what I really want. I respect ESP, EMG, DM and JH, but still....
