Why doesn't gibson make more blue guitars?

Re: Why doesn't gibson make more blue guitars?

I didn't say Fender didn't make any. Hell, I own one even. Nor do you need to look for a pic of every blue Fender ever made since the dawn of time. My point is that it's a very rare color. Aside from a few vintage blues available on a limited number of guitars, currently it's not made. But I guarantee whatever it is they'll make it in sunburst, white and black.

as consumers, we're sick and tired of this bull****. it's well documented, why doesn't it change?

You want it to change? Buy some guitars. A lot of them. Or move to Japan. They seem to offer more varieties over there.

Less obsession with tradition.

Put 20 black guitars on the wall and 20 blue guitars on the same wall. The black ones will sell out quicker and you'll still have more than 50% of the blue ones left. Simple economics, my friend.

I wonder had Clapton & Page played a crimson red Les Paul (assuming availability) would bursts even be in demand these days? I doubt it.

True. What you see growing up, the guitars your heroes used, is a big influence on your taste in models and colors as an adult. I can't see a white Strat and not think of Hendrix. I can't recall of any of my heroes (mostly Brits of 40 years ago) using blue or green guitars, certainly not on a regular basis. Had Page played a blue LP, you can bet they'd be more popular now, and I might have one too. As it is, I grew up fascinated with SG Stds, and never questioned red as a guitar color. It's 'neutral' to me, like black, white, or natural.

At my age, I'd rather make a statement with the music I play, and to a lesser degree with the instrument model I select, and don't feel the need to have unusual colors, or graphics. Maybe I would if I was younger.

Boy, do I wish this applied to Francis Rossi and his Cuprinol-stained green Tele. I would love for translucent forest green to be a common color. Quo never really took off over here, but maybe green guitars, especially Fenders, are more common in Europe.

I currently own 6 guitars. Of these, 1 is purely blue, two more are Midnight Blue-ish which depending on lighting it's either a Blueish purple or a Purplish blue.
The other two are natural and the one that is red, I didn't buy because but rather is spite of the color.

I LOVE blue guitars, that said, it's not a popular color with guitar players. Bursts, red, black and white are MUCH more common...

That is very pretty. I'm rather partial to the blue ES-137's too

Gibson once made these Les Pauls I drooled after and thought of 20 different schemes to get one.

I think the color is Manhattan Blue.
