I love SGs, but why do they only make 'em in two colors? Is it because they invest more in LPs? Or some other reason?

They need to make white a standard color.
Over the last 10 years or so, Gibsons made SG's in many colors, models, PU configurations, tailpieces, and configurations. All you have to do is look around at used guitars. They're not going to make all of these every year because the market's not there.
Yep. I'm surprised Gibson doesn't use a lot of colors on their SG Stds, but if you keep your eyes open you'll see limited runs.

A couple of my favorites were 2012 Sam Ash specials in pelham blue and bullion gold. I still kick myself for not grabbing one of those. However, I do have a candy red SG Diablo which is one of my favorite guitars.
