Why is the Les Paul so over priced?

Re: Why is the Les Paul so over priced?

Oh, I want one but this part is not correct. Nobody's insulting your woman but Gibson has some issues. Most alcoholics aren't alcoholics either.

I don't care. Show me a problem a good tech can't fix. Then show me an epi that doesn't need more.

Let me edit this. Like what? And tell me how you know from experience. Be specific.

Nevermind! I'm totally delusional! I'm so sorry I hurt anyones feelings. I'm sure your Gibson plays absolutely awesome. I prefer blondes but I know for a fact they're not all perfectly stunning.:)

DAMN that's hot.

That's one thing I wish they'd change. That's the right plastic color, not the pinkish crap that comes on all their stuff, now. I don't know who told them that it looked good, but I know people have been screaming for the right stuff for years!:banghead:

Exactly! You can't tell me.

Yup.

I'm sorry you didn't see my firt post on this thread.

-Fret ends were really rough

-Finished fretboard sides that looked and felt like wet pavement

-Glue squeeze out around the neck joint and under the fretboard, and was just painted over

Yours isn't like that you got a great one, the one i played was not a good one! I'll still look for a great one.

I did not post on here to bash Gibson. I only wanted to know why the poor quality that I witnessed? I really want a LP but I can't justify buying one with what I saw and felt with my own two hands. I guess it go's to the fact that you've got to play a few of them to find a good one. Even after what I witnessed i still want a "Real One".

The black R8s are just killer. Pretty much perfect guitars.

I hope I never find one for sale.

Re: Why is the Les Paul so over priced?

Hey, purple LP guy, type "Gibson les paul purple" on ebay you'll find three auctions that have purple LP standards. Apparently these were made in the early '90s and range from $1850-$2100.

Jeez, 11 pages and 200 posts?? :spam:

Re: Why is the Les Paul so over priced?

IDK, like I said, I just typed "gibson les paul purple" and found 3 of them. I saw the year(s) they were made and assumed that it was a special run from the '90s. I know I saw a couple of them a few months ago as well.

That particular LP you gave the link to has been heavily modified BTW. Maybe he or she upgraded to a ABR-1 bridge?

It has ABR-1 studs as far as I can tell from the photos. You can get an ABR-1 to fit on nastyville studs (let's leave aside that that's pointless). But you can't put ABR-1 studs into the craters that Nashville anchors leave.
