Re: Wiring 2 slide switches on a Coronet Les Paul Copy
Hi Namreks et al,
I own one of these guitars as well. The guy who fixed mine up told me the switch on the left (looking down as you're playing) is High Output (Left) and Low Output (Right) for the neck pickup and the switch on the right is the same for the bridge pickup. I don't know if that's just how he decided to wire it up based on what I've read in this thread though. I put better tuners on mine but stuffed up the paint job a bit but it's behind the headstock so meh.
Incidentally, does anyone know what kind of pickups are in this thing? I know they're supposed to look like the low impedance Les Paul Recording ones (yet to find a name for Les Paul's ones out there, perhaps they are just referred to as "those low impedence pickups" followed by the long-winded explanation of what he wanted when he wasn't satisfied with those two other models that came before it!), but I have a vague recollection, perhaps a misguided one, I'm not too sure, that the guy who fixed mine said they're not humbuckers, which I suppose, if they're anything like Les Paul's, wouldn't be single coils either.
I'd also like to ask if anyone knows if the guitar and pickups are designed for the pickups to be slanted for any reason? I mean raised on one side and lowered on the other. Mine don't seem to be but I read somewhere that maybe they should be.
Also of note is that my bridge pickup is twice as high as my neck pickup. Any reason for that? Could this be a problem? Seems alright to me. Are there generally any rules about how high or low you have pickups, like if you have them too low could the signal not get picked up as well? Is there a difference between the "pickup itself" and the "pickup sensor" (based on my reading and failure to comprehend)?
Mine doesn't have the pickguard with that bracket kit holding it up like that either, is that standard? Where can I get one?!
It looks like mine came in the same case too!
Thanks all, and to all a goodnight!
