hello,

I 'm thinking of putting in a pup myself, but I couldn't find the proper wiring diagram for my guitar, could someone help me?

it's a tele with 2 humbuckers, 1 volume, 1 tone, 3 way switch and and a fase switch (I 'm planning on replacing the jazz neck with a DD neck)

thx

Re: wiring diagram

Have you looked at the Duncan wiring diagrams on this website? They have a pretty extensive collection of them for just about anything you can think of.

Re: wiring diagram

yeah, I did, but the only wiring they have which includes a phase switch, is one with 2 single coils.... no humbuckers.... or I must have missed it, which wouldn't surprise me one bit :laugh2:

Re: wiring diagram

A phase switch is going to be wired the same regardless of what the rest of the configuration is. Just look at the dedicated diagram for phase and incorporate that into your other drawing.

Re: wiring diagram

so I just have to mix both drawings together and I'm fine? just want to be sure, since this will be my first time installing a pup

Re: wiring diagram

Phase is done with only a hot & a ground, so it works for single coils and single-lead HB's too. If you have a 4-lead HB, once you do the phase part, you still have unconnected two wires left, which you can use for either coil-cut (push-pull) or spin-a-split (regular tone pot).

Re: wiring diagram

forgive me my ignorance, but what exactly are a coil cut and a spin-a-split? this is really the first time I will be doing this kind of stuff, so I'm a real n00b when it comes to this stuff

Re: wiring diagram

One of the best ways to familiarize yourself with guitar wiring is to go to Duncan's support page and click on the "Wiring Diagrams". Go down through and look at each one. Patterns will emerge.

In fact, if you can, right-click and save each one to a folder on your computer. Then use your favorite graphics viewer to easily scan up and down through them all. You'll see, quickly, how things are done.

Its what I did.

Re: wiring diagram

I just looked at some of the wiring diagrams and then opened my guitar, and there were a few cables, which where soldered at a totally different place than the diagrams indicated. That may perhaps explain the bad working pups en toneknob (a really long time I thought that my jazz lacked output and sounded really weak, but some day during the last week or so, I think the signal came correctly through, and now the jazz is sounding perfect). that 's also the reason why I want to see where the problem is, since the jazz doesn't always sound like it is supposed to.

If I 'd take picture of the wiring, could you help me out with the wires which are soldered differently?

Thx
