Wrong pickup...

I had an SH-6 intstalled into an Epiphone Explorer and I'm not really satisfied with it. The pickup is just too harsh and doesn't blend well with my settings. At first I thought it was the amp rather than the pickup, or the guitar rather than the pickup, but the amp settings sound fine with my other two SD equipped guitars.
Basically, the SH-6 just ain't jiven' with the rest of my rig. I need a pickup that's a little less of the SH-6, I like the tone, but less of the SH-6's character. I've got a MIM Strat with an '59 in the bridge and Viper 100 with a JB in the bridge and am looking for a sound somewhere in between the 59' and the JB.
Oh yeah, I generally play most kinds of rock music. From The White Stripes (garage rock/blues) to Marilyn Manson (quasi industrial metal) to Nirvana (punk-ish) and some stuff in between, so any pickup conducive to those kinds of sounds would work.

Re: Wrong pickup...

I already got the JB, and I'm looking for a little bit of a different sound, so I'm going to check out the C5 and the Custom.
Thanks for the help.

Re: Wrong pickup...

Trashy=DD, Harmonics=JB, Aggressive=Custom.

Re: Wrong pickup...

I'd get a C5 if I were you, it's kind of a less agressive Custom, but not just because of that. It might be the "harsh-ness" of the ceramic magnets you don't like, and since you like Alnico V equipped pups, I think the C5 would work out very well for you. It's got more bottom end than the JB and less mids too, so that might comprimise for the '59 side :)
