Yet another MIM makeover...

So I got a hold of some Lace Sensors in a trade I did with theodie, and dropped them in my strat. I also had to replace the volume pot (finally wore out after 8 years of use) and put a chrome knob on there for better grippage when riding the volume control.

From neck to bridge we have a Blue, Silver, Red Laces in there. I REALLY like them... humbucker power and fatness, single coil sparkle, low noise, and no magnet pull! Kinda hi-fi sounding but its got some vintage around the edges.

How do y'all like the new look?

That guitar's becoming such a bastardized peice but I love it. :laugh2:

Re: Yet another MIM makeover...

why did u swap HH for SSS anyways?

I didn't.

That was a completely different guitar. This is a '95 Mexican Strat. The one you refer to was a '98 MIA FR Strat. They both have red bodies (althought the MIA was Candy Apple) rosewood fretboards, and maple necks though.

lol. okay. :)

Re: Yet another MIM makeover...

Nice. I'd complete it by putting black tuners on there and replacing the tone knobs with chrome tele knobs.

Re: Yet another MIM makeover...

I used to have the same set-up in a strat... (possibly the same pups?)

Anyway, great set-up, and great looK!

I bet I screwed that one up :laugh2:. The axe looks great bro, enjoy it.

Re: Yet another MIM makeover...

I know many Strat fans hate the Lace Sensors but i like them... I enjoy the Clapton set up with Lace's.... Love the Lace/Strat tones Pete Townshend gets these days with his Custom-ized Clapton strats and his Vibro King amps! He has Lace's on his guitars still. He also has a Fishman bridge that he runs into a Fender Acoustisonic amp. He runs both signals at once so it sounds like their is almost 2 guitarists coming from his rig.

I have a Lace in the middle of 2 humbuckers on my Warmoth strat and it sounds great! I have no idea which model it is as the colour was worn off it when i bought it.... I paid a tech $20 for it to take it off his hands.... It was just sitting on his bench.

I will buy more Laces in the future.... Gold ones if i can find them cheap.....

Please replace the knobs with black ones.

I want to... but the grip of the chrome knob is kinda growing on me. Plus I like the bastardized look. Maybe one chrome and two black?

I only like black tuners on all-maple necks. I do have 2 more chrome knobs like the first one lying around, though.

Personally I dont like the Golds, they're much too thin for me. Whenever I try an old Clapton strat with them I leave the midrange boost on all the way but the Blues sound like that ALREADY.

Re: Yet another MIM makeover...

if you really want to make it a real bastard I saw once skull and cross bones tuners. or replace the knobs with dice.
