YIPES, have I blown one side of my amp?

I have a VHT 50/50 and for about a week it has been making some noise - kinda like you have to ends of two different cables and your touching them together, then it sort of starts screeching - so tonight I turned the different sides off individually and it is only coming from one side although the other side sounds like it might be in the infant stages of doing the same thing.
I thought I'd get some feedback from you guys before I send it to get fixed - I'd like to know what I'm in for. Thanks

maybe the tubes have just gone microphonic and they need replacement.

Hmm, I've never had that happen- what causes that, just time and play? IF that is the case, what would you all recommend for tubes?
