YJM Fury or Injector Set for strat?

Looking to upgrade my 2012 US standard strat's stock Fat 50s. I am fortunate to have AVRI 57 and MIJ 54 reissue strats that do the true vintage strat tone, so I would like to upgrade the US standard to something more contemporary for some rock and classic metal tones. I'll be playing it pretty high gain through a Mesa Triple Crown, or clean tube amps with pedals for high gain tones. Think 80s shred and metal.

I really like the look of traditional strat pickups but want something that cancels the hum and gets a thicker than true vintage tone. Don't want a shrill bridge pickup when playing riffs. I listen to both Yngwie and Paul Gilbert and both these sets get great reviews and online demos.

From the demos online the injectors may have a fatter rock tone that I like, however the YJMs may keep the strat tone better and I like the clarity and lead tones. Would be great to hear from folks that have tried them.

Let me know if you guys have any recommendations for either set,

Thanks!

Re: YJM Fury or Injector Set for strat?

I have YJM's in my single piece swamp ash strat and couldn't be happier with them. I haven't used Injectors but I've had a good variety of others in the same guitar, Fralin, Bill Lawrence, Duncan '69, all were good but I get more of what I want from the Fury set.

Well, the YJMs are great for metal, providing your metal style is based on clean, clearly picked runs and not downtuned riffing. The YJMs certainly sound like great single coils, though, not fatter humbuckers. Like any single coil-voiced pickups, super high gain can get splatty...these seem to excel at boosted-Marshall levels of gain.

I play in standard tuning, and I have Ibanez and ESP for the high gain stuff. Was looking for this guitar to bridge between traditional vintage strat and humbucker/Floyd superstrat. I'd like it to still be a Strat, but you know.....rock. Looking for it not to fall apart or be shrill or hum with overdrive and distortion and have thicker than traditional strat bridge tone. In terms of gain levels for this guitar more Satriani than Slayer.

I'm familiar with both and the descriptions above for the YJM are spot on. They do retain a lot of the Strat flavor and don't get too ugly with gain. The Injector is a great pickup and you could do much worse than a set of 3 for what you're trying to do. They are killer with higher amounts of gain, but I believe if you want to retain the most Strat type clarity, then the YJMs would be the way to go.

Re: YJM Fury or Injector Set for strat?

Is there a good demo or example of some YJM Fury bridge pickup riffing? Most of the demos involve neoclassical lead playing which it naturally excels at. Would be great to hear how thick or thin the overdriven rhythm tone is on the bridge pickup. Starting to seriously consider this set but want to check out the bridge pickup on some heavier rhythms as this is where most strat pickups are sensitive. Yngwie gets solid rhythm tones but his wall of Marsalls would give any guitar some balls.

Thanks!

Re: YJM Fury or Injector Set for strat?

Having used both sets I prefer the Injectors. The Fury pickups are good, but the Injectors fit me a little better. They have more output and the A2 magnets have less string pull so you can get them closer to the strings.
