Yngwie Malmsteen comes to Seymour Duncan

Re: Yngwie Malmsteen comes to Seymour Duncan

Dear Mr. FS -

If you are Yngwie Malmsteen, all apologies for any ill feelings regarding your accent. That said, I am a HUGE fan. I remember to this day the first time I heard you play. My jaw hit the floor. I went out and bought Rising Force the next day. You have been a HUGE influence on me musically over the years. There are a lot of people who do what you do, but nobody does it better with more style and tone. Welcome to Seymour Duncan!

"I FOOKIN love you Yng, I didnae mean it pal!!!"

Hey - if I gotta wear kneepads to get a famous dude who is the GOD of shred, that's what I gotta do!

Seriously, love the Yngwie! When have i not been one to suck up? I saw him put on an AMAZING show of technique, tone, and flash. Just awesome.

I mean, he's gotta be over the fookin fury thing by now. I think he has embraced it. But just in case...he can be 'particular' from what I understand.

Re: Yngwie Malmsteen comes to Seymour Duncan

Since every Dimarzio endorsee is an Yngwie disciple, I wonder if they'll all follow him over to Duncan? LOL

Apparently he has embraced it as the pup is called the Fury.. Also, I think the last cd or something was called something like that too.. right??

I saw Yngwie opening for Iron Maiden here.. AWESOME!

Im anxious to hear how this pup performs.. Ive heard the DMZ version was very weak. Ive not yet found a single coil that I really like..

Re: Yngwie Malmsteen comes to Seymour Duncan

So are these closer to the HS-3 or the YJM from that other maker?

Maybe closer to the YJM since the Fury seems to have staggered poles. The HS-2 and HS-3 have the poles flat across.

BTW, this move by Yngiwe seems a little odd to me, it's too aggressive. Yngwie and Larry had, at least it seemed like, a good relationship and to now leave the company and have a new signature model with Seymour Duncan seems really out of place.

Who knows.

I hope the new pup has more output than DiMarzio's HS-Series; they are wonderful clean pups but for distortion I can't get much out of them. They seem to have limited sustain and are pretty quiet volume wise.

But for cleans, oh man, nothing matches the HS-2 or the HS-3!

Re: Yngwie Malmsteen comes to Seymour Duncan

I did a little IP snooping on Mr. Full Shred and I can say with near certainty that he is neither Yngwie nor his publicist. I think he's a fan who got some information from Yngwie's official site.

By the way, as you may know, I'm head of Artist Relations here and I've personally been overseeing this project with Yngwie and I'm his contact at SD. For the record, let me state that he has been one of the most pleasant, self-effacing, intelligent and genuinely funny artists I've had the pleasure to work with.

Uh oh... who's wearing knee pads now? ;)

Thanks for the info Evan!

Re: Yngwie Malmsteen comes to Seymour Duncan

When I heard YJM was coming over to Duncan, I thought it meant "Dunkin' Donuts".

:D

Evan, can you get Paul Gilbert now?

Re: Yngwie Malmsteen comes to Seymour Duncan

The description makes it sound like they have significantly more output than the DMZ counterpart.

Is there any word on the output of these babies?

Re: Yngwie Malmsteen comes to Seymour Duncan

IMO Paul's nowadays tone is nowhere what it used to be in the 80s and early 90s.
He now uses weak Air Classic humbuckers, WTH? How "unshred" is that?
Having that said, I'd like to see a shredder's pickup from Duncan, which would basically be a hybrid between the JB and the Full Shred.

So you don't find the full shred as a "shredder's" pickup?
