You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

Re: You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

Easy.

Marty Friedman's skills and I don't really care which of his guitars I get because that really doesn't matter after I can play like Marty Friedman, does it?

From what I've read, Marty doesn't really care that much about guitars. In an interview he was asked, [paraphrased] "So what's your favorite guitar that you've ever owned?" His reply: "All of them, I guess. It doesn't really matter that much. They've all been good."

Well, he's Marty F'n Friedman.

Re: You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

This is really very simple for me.

I will take Jeff Beck's skills. It will still be me writing and playing what's in my head, only with more accuracy of pitch on the vibrato bar, more speed and precision, better muting and control in general, and an enhanced vocabulary of note selection and chord voicings. Since I've already benefited so much in the transaction and because the guitar is a bonus, I'll take his least favorite and give it to a kid who has a heart for guitar but can't afford a decent one.

Smokeless fire coming from a bottle on a beach? I'd think "Oh **** an Efreet!" and haul ass in the opposite direction. A Sila on the other hand...

Re: You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

My 3 top guys no longer have or have playable versions of the single guitar I would like to have.

Can I have skills and one amp instead?

Re: You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

Well, If I could pick a guitarists skills to add as my own with my own mind heart and brain to apply them as I wish... Ooh man, that's a tough decision as there are so many guitarists that I like. But I'd say it's a toss-up between Lincoln Brewster and Phil Keaggy and I'm leaning more towards Phil because of his song Quote Jester off the Keaggy, King and Dente album. I would love to be able to pull that song off someday. And to be able to own a Zion guitar would be pretty cool. I've only ever seen one in person and it wasn't played because of a crack in the body near the bridge.

Re: You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

Malmsteen and one of his guitars as opposed to his hundred-guitar-collection? What a trade! His guitars are unplayable anyway. I'll take the skills, thank you.

Re: You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

For example - is the Mick Mars fan out there really going to admit either?????

Why not? The dude has come up with some killer riffs. Is he the most technical or flashy? Heck no, that doesn't fit Crüe. Hell, I'd love a Kramer or two that he had back in the day.

Re: You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

You said skills, and not soul or mind, so I'd still sound like me, but with my fav's skills to do my stuff with.

With that in mind, I'll take Jeff Beck's skills with any one of his guitars.

Re: You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

If by skills, you not only mean physical ability but also mental ability as in knowledge. I would go with Steve Via. He has amazing physical ability's but also his knowledge of music theory and arranging is way up there. To have all that and what I do and how I think.....WOW !!!
As far as the guitar.....I don't know.....anyone would be cool.

Naomi Judd, and I'd gladly take any of her mint-condition Kramer Nightswans.

I'm fine with the way I play guitar. I'd rather have Jeff Buckley's range and skill vocal-wise (not his exact voice).
