Boss ME-50. It has all the important pedals built into it.

Octaver
Tuner
Noise Supressor
Delay (excellent)
Compressor
Tone (EQ)
Reverb
Chorus/flange/phase
Everything has knobs and its all foot switchable. You can even program patches if you want.
And its got a huge selection of distortion models that sound great in the loop of a tube amp. Nice for when you need something your amp wont provide.
Only other pedals I would buy are wah and boosters to go in front of amp.

I'll be the only one to say my digitech whammy 4.
Probably one of the first effect pedals I've bought so that I can cover RATM songs. I like it. Nothing else sounds like it. Its been on my board ever sicne the beginning. Its uses are limited, but very unique.
My other fav effect is flange.

In general, I'm a big fan of overdrive pedals. In terms of useful tone shaping, you'd be hard pressed to find another type of pedal that can accomplish more. I use them to crunch up a clean amp, or kick a high gain amp into singing sweetness. In the past I've also used them as solo boosts.

Favorite effect: Reverb or Echo. Gotta have me some reverb or echo. It just sounds so cool and I really like how it livens up my sound.
Favorite effect pedal: Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive. I've used one for years, still have one, modded it to 808 specs and back, and even modded another one to OD-1 specs. Even stock it just works for me. Good clean boost with the gain all the way down or really slam the amp with some gain added. Either way, it does what I want it to.
