Your FAVOURITE pickups

Re: Your FAVOURITE pickups

I put a Pearly Gates Trembucker in the neck position of my Musicman Silhouette a few weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. I'm going for a mid-output classic rock sound--something that will maintain my playing dynamics even with overdrive and/or distortion. The PG is just what I needed. I've set it up so that I can split the pickup--it sounds great split, with not much volume drop and a nice bright sound.

Re: Your FAVOURITE pickups

i like the Custom the best so far out of everything i've tried. i think it has a great blues tone as well!
i have a super distortion in my charvel and it rocks too, lots of crunch and isn't muddy as i thought it would.

so i would say the Custom/59 combo. great sound :)

welll for me.. i want a really nice clean tone.. dats very clear... something like 3 doors down.. their clean is really nice. but i also like rock. maybe in terms of Jimmy Page's tone.. his has a nice tone. As for the Jazz Seymour Duncan?... isnt that for jazz style?.. cuz im not especially fond of JAzz.. i also want a crunch tahts really crunchy but not full on metal..

Re: Your FAVOURITE pickups

The Duncan Custom gives you a nice crunch. Or a C5. 59?
My fave is still the JB which gives you loads of harmonics but imo not as much crunch as the custom.
Btw the Jazz isn't just for Jazz. Its an allround PU. Never tired 'em but it's supposed to be similar to the 59 but with a bit less bass
