Zephyr Silver background

Re: Zephyr Silver background

Thanks GV. I wish someone had done this sooner it would have cut my thread off right quick. Although, as you advised I should have searched before I started.

Zephyr Silver background

Lol. Was this a repeat of the A4 thread? Such a shame. Frank posted tons of valuable info in that Zephyr thread.

"My only concern is now with silver pickups... would one need to change all the wires and or pots too silver too really benefit from all the 'better' qualities?"(xxxplorer)

I was wondering this, also.

(But I REALLY wanna hear a CC pu w/silver wire.)

Did this ever get answered? (apologies if it was between the multiple threads)

^ that's actually something I was wondering myself when I read Frank's post. I think you're good. I search on the app and scrolled down. Pretty sure the thread is gone and like I said before, Frank laid out some knowledge that was a interesting read.

Thanks!

Really interested in the concept–I think the price is why people are so negative towards it.

Re: Zephyr Silver background

I think I'd try out the polepieces followed by the actually silver wind before I would dip into buying a full version. I haven't seen any used, so it's safe to assume those that do own them, just won't let them go

Re: Zephyr Silver background

I'm sure Zephyr pickups are a really great product but, due to their pricing there would be less of a sticker shock if say they were a part of a standard pickup line offered by a boutique pickup winder with prices in this range. Being that the bulk of SD's line of pickups are priced competitively comparative to many boutique winders, the jump in pricing comparative to the rest of the SD pickup line is like selling mink stole's in a budget dress shop. And, consumers are very discerning and psychological about their purchases. In the previous comparison, people might normally question, "Why is this budget dress shop carrying expensive mink stoles? What's wrong with them, or what's wonky about this scenario?" Many people that can normally afford the budget line of pickups cannot afford the higher priced products. The customers that can afford such a product will typically frequent the expensive boutique winder websites before they would frequent say SD or DiMarzio for products such as the Zephyr. I am not casting any dispersions on the product but, posing a marketing question that if resolved could increase sales of the Zephyr line of products. I know that SD has a custom shop, so maybe what's needed is to have a separate web site or web page solely devoted and dedicated to the upper end "boutique" consumer.
