so my friend and i (and our poor significant others) stopped by the factory on a little road trip and evan and frank were cool enough to let us try out some guitars with zephyrs. you can read all about how the guitars were made which is very cool.
i tried the buckers first and was handed two guitars, one with zephyrs and the other with similar pups but copper wire. i wasnt told which was which, just to check em out and see what i thought. not sure which one i tried first but believe me when i say that it wasnt hard to pick which one was the zephyr loaded axe. the clarity and string to string definition was incredible. no more flubby open low e string. the note had shape, color, texture and punch like ive never heard from a neck humbucker. very tight and focused while still being immensely musical. it felt like a great pup through the amp, some how it was more aggressive when pushed hard but more refined than the copper version. the tone was wider but less cluttered or congested. if you suck, then these are not the pups for you cause they will show you how bad you suck. but if you have great hands these things will bring forth every nuance of your playing. i was blown away by that neck bucker compared to the copper. the bridge bucker and the strat pups had the same qualities. clear, open tones with beautiful harmonics.
