That's a GREAT looking piece of wood, and it would certainly look good with or without a pickguard… But I wouldn't write off the pickguard just yet. The pickguard drawn on your template looked like it would add a real nice contrast to it IMO.

mmmmmmmm i hear you man. I'm thinking white pickups, chrome hardware and a stained black cavity cover that way i get my self some contrast and a point of difference.

Spent hours sanding the scratches out of it and getting the arm contour right. Its going to be some work getting it ready for a stain.

Been chipping away at some Queensland maple. The bit of wood wasn't quite wide enough for the jumbo headstock but it will shape up just fine regardless.

Neck and body arrived! Neck fits body quite nicely...encouragingly so. Although I’m a little torn because I like the battle scarred finish on the body as it is.

I glued the fretboard on without removing the tape over the truss rod and also carved the neck before gluing it on. Luckily it's all fine and it will be the same result regardless i just really need to concentrate more.
