1 meg pot on a P-90?

If you have a jonesin for some shards then go for it. I wanted shards and put a 1 meg on ssl1s lol. That was too much. But you could put 1 meg on a p90. Would probably be nice and spikey but not deadly.

Yeah it's got a deep dark bottom end

I've used 1 megs in the neck slot of LP's. The only difference is that they add some of the uppermost treble. Doesn't impact mids & lows. Is that what you're wanting? If you've got too much low end, I'd replace one or both A5's (assuming that's what in your P-90) as they have a lot of bass. An A4 or two, or an A4/A3 pair would dial down the low end. Very easy to swap magnets in P-90's.

Yeah that's not what I'm looking for, the upper end sounds good, would changing the cap value do me any good or would the mag swap be a better alternative?

You could try lower tone cap value, or remove the tone pot completely, or try the de-mud mod which puts a small cap in line with the pickup hot wire to the switch or pot. I would try all those routes before even attempting a mag swap.

This! I have a 1 Meg on my Dimebucker and it is still dark and throaty, however, the highs are more crystal. I would also suggest switching the cap.

I vote de-mud mod, but since it'd be on the whole pickup and not just one half of a humbucker, I recommend a 500K trimpot in place of the resistor so you can dial it down to taste.

Mag swap would tame bass, but it'd also change the character of the mids & highs. De-mud just rolls off the lows.

Now that you mention it, I had one on a JB that made it darker and throatier and gave it searing highs but kind of tinny mids.
