So, about seven years ago I was brought into a band to play guitar. We wrote a bunch of songs, recorded and album, played a bunch of places and then after a few years called it quits.
At the time I was playing a Line 6 Flextone I XL amp. It did the job.
It looks like the band may be re-forming for some nostalgia trip.
My Flextone is long gone.
I'd be looking for something to keep up with the other guitar player that loves cranking a Peavey Classic 50, the one with 4 x 10's I believe.
I already have a cab, a Marshall JCM800 series 2 x 12, so I'd be looking for a head.
It needs to have channel switching, at least two, preferably three.
First channel needs to be pretty crisp. Second has to have some decent hair on it. And the third be balls-out heavy.
My knee-jerk reaction was to go with a JSX. Another thought might be a 5150 and chuck an Overdrive in there. I only know the Legacy's by reputation. I do know Mesa makes some very nice gear as well.
The odds are this isn't something I'm going to keep. We'd likely play a dozen or so shows over the course of six months and then that would be it. I'd need something used that I could unload for about what i paid for it.
This is something I'm gigging out with, so there's no way a Bogner or a Deizel is going to happen!
Thanks...
