Re: Accoustic tone of an electric guitar?
Zerb, I apologize if my thread/question annoyed you... and anyone else that responded in no direct way kinda implying that Im being a dumb-a$$.. Im not a luthier, but Ive been around long enough to feel Im fairly knowledgible about how guits are built and how they work,age,etc.. SO... Here's the thing.. When I first got it, the guitar sounded dead and very plinky.. I thought first it was the strings and worried that the guitar was just flat out a dud. I fully went over the guitar. (the tone pros bridge was not tightened down and a few other things were messed up like that. (SHAMEFUL for a guitar of this price range and that I had to wait several months for it to be built. AND this was the second one as the first one was built wrong..) still the same. I then changed strings to what I always use, (D'addario .10s) thinking maybe it was the stock strings. Same. So I was getting VERY nervous as time was passing that maybe the guitar was a flat out POS. SO, I started playing it exclusively for the next few weeks hoping that it would improve or else I was going to return it.. The tone has improved, it is lively and warmer sounding and sustains better. SO... Whatever happened (break in, string break in, The tone fairies sprinkled mojo dust on it), I really dont frickin know, but it is good now. So.. Thats what prompted me to open this thread. Ive had guitars before that make almost no sound when played unplugged and sound great plugged in, and I have a few the sound big unplugged and vibrate in my hands and feel alive, and those absolutely ROAR when plugged up..
