I was doing a comparo on my LPs today as I have to thin down. My Burny is amazing as it plays so good. I finally figured the difference tonally as well. It has a growl to it. When I pick it accoustically, it sounds throaty. Whereas others, such as the Epi Elite has a bit of a plink to it. When plugged up, it growls.
Im guessing that most of this is in the wood, but can this be improved with a bridge change or anything?? The Elites are quality parts, but the string saddles on the bridge are tall tabs. I dont know if that makes any diff. It sustains great and plays great and sounds great with the BBQ in it, but just not as beautifully menacing..
My Dean Soltero has a similar growl, but nowhere near as beastly.. Its similar to my explorer.
Any suggestions, or is it all wood??
