Amp suggestions for $400 or less.

My vox vtx died on me so the store is letting me exchange it. Watts or speaker size doesn't matter. Looking for good cleans and some heavy distorted tons. I like an amp that has some decent bottom end with out getting muddy. For when I down tune. I know a good tube amp would sound the best but for the time being I can't afford one. I don't mind going back with a modeling amp as long as it sounds good.
It needs to be a combo that the cleans and the high gain are the only requirements. I would go try some out. But all I can find in are more voxes and Marshall code amps.

Several Bandits to $400

In the same vein
Peavey Valve Kings are dirt cheap
A used Windsor

Plenty of used Carvin amps in that range

Maybe Gearjonesors Blue Vox head . if ya just gotta have a Vox

I have a solid state Laney that is all you describe
Not for sale though

Bandit

I've been using an old Bandit for the last 2 years. Built-in distortion/overdrive, robust EQ, 2 channels, built-in reverb, footswitchable - this thing cured my pedal obsession.

Would Fender Bassbreaker go heavy enough for you? I've been impressed with clips.

Orange Crush 35/60
Bandit
Find an old Marshall 5xxx series. 5210 was my choice. But any of those 80s SS amps.

That is a good price point, as pretty much any big amp maker makes something in that price range. Check what brands they carry (or what they can get in), come home, do some free research and pick one. BTW, I had a Vox die on me too, so with my credit I ended up with a Peavey Vypyr. No, it isn't a Boogie, but it sounds great for practice.

Fender Mustang III. Best under $400 amp on the planet.

My vintage Fenders now reside in the closet of my music room.

Here's mine.

Yeah I second the Mustang III

Also look at the Orange Crush line, some really good stuff there too

Don't forget the Super Champ XD and X2 amps...great modeling into a real tube amp.

I have one of the VIP series Vypers
The 40 watt one
I like it. Plug anything at all into it
Tons of sounds and a built in tuner

I had one of the Early Vypers . The 15 watt one
It was very flimsy felt like if dropped on a corner it would crumble flat

It sounded good but wasn't loud enough for rehearsals

Thanks for the options guys. I'll see which ones I can find to try out. What about the blackstar ID tvp series? I saw a few people suggest the orange crush 35R. How would the 10" speaker hold up to drop C tuning?
