And of Course the GT-1000

Re: And of Course the GT-1000

I still have and use the Boss GT-6. It's great for silent playing and recording. I'll admit that most of the amp models don't sound great. I did find 3-4 that were useable and I dove into tweaking them to find just the right tone for recording. I have never taken the time to truly understand the in depth programming and at this point on its lifecycle it wouldn't be worth my time, but there are a handful of great sounds in there.

I wouldn't spend a grand for the new one. For my purposes, that money would go towards a great amp like a Splawn.

Re: And of Course the GT-1000

Did you seriously think I would not notice that you very conspicuously omitted the Digitech RP200A ?

I was thinking that I’ve never played through one, so that’s why I didn’t put it on my list.

Re: And of Course the GT-1000

I’m not interested in the least.
I’ve owned several multi Fx units over the years and I always get frustrated. Both because there are endless menus to navigate and also because the overdrive and distortion sounds don’t sound “real” to me.
The digital delay, Reverb, chorus etc all sound great....but the overdrive.....nope.

Re: And of Course the GT-1000

The only thing I really miss from any processor I've ever owned was the phaser on the Digitech RP-6. You could set it to be controlled with the expression pedal. I used that all the time as a really thick, pukey sounding wah.

Now, though, I'm really boring, and enjoy exploring how adjusting the mid control on my Green Rhino by 5 or 10 degrees changes my tone.

Re: And of Course the GT-1000

Threadsurrection on this, anyone tried the GT-1000 yet? I can get a new one for $800 and am seriously considering it.

Re: And of Course the GT-1000

Threadsurrection 2. I never thought it would happen, but I am seriously considering getting some sort of all-digital unit for local gigs.

Re: And of Course the GT-1000

I've been using the GT-1000 since mid-summer, definitely an upgrade on the amp models, they feel much more organic than the previous Boss models. It's really good, even though I still hate programming. That said, I already knew how to program the Boss units after using a GT-100 for years and I got a really good deal on the GT-1K. Is it better than the Helix, Headrush, AX8, Amplifire, etc...? I can't really say, I haven't used any of those, but the Helix and Headrush are supposed to be easier to get around on if you haven't used any of them.

Re: And of Course the GT-1000

I really wish I could A/B the GT-1000 and the Helix. The Helix was superintuitive when I tried it, but I didn't like the amp sims (this was running on very early software), but I know the basics of programming Boss units, so it might be nice to continue with that.

Yeah, that was one of the reasons I went with the Boss, I also liked the demos I found on youtube, it did seem to sound pretty organic (granted, it was youtube), it also has a faster, quad core processor vs dual cores on the Helix (more HP should help the modeling, right?), and and I really got a great deal through Prymaxe.
