Another JP wiring thread!

Re: Another JP wiring thread!

After looking at some other posts i have noticed that there are some problems caused the 3 way switch on epiphones. so i have decided to go all out and change all the electronics including the switch which i will replace with a switchcraft 3 way(read somewhere that they have seperate input and output on both sides)
so my question is will the schematic posted above work with this new switch.

thanks in advance

Re: Another JP wiring thread!

Hey Burchill; Welcome to the forum. That diagram is one that I got from somewhere, (can't remember where), and I think it has a mistake in it. Hopefully, Robert S will post a link to the correct one. I keep meaning to update that. :smack:

I believe that one will work, but compromises a position or two.

Re: Another JP wiring thread!

If you do a quick search for "Jimmy Page", several threads will show up, but basically, Robert always recommends the "official" Gibson diagram, shown here:

http://www.gibson.com/Files/schematics/pagewiring.gif

Its a little harder to follow, but I believe thats the correct one. I'll try to modify mine to reflect Gibsons . . . as soon as I get a spare minute. ;)

Edit btw - Change the "gif" extension to PDF and you can save it as an Adobe .pdf document.

Re: Another JP wiring thread!

after searching around a couple of posts i have found that quite a few people have problems with finding a good schematic for this mod, it would be great if someone could do a SD style drawing but with the proper gibson wiring. anyway thanks for all the help.

Please could someone check this diagram to see if its right. i modified it with the wiring from another diagram i found. a few things to note.

1. i have never performed this mod so dont use this diagram before it has been checked out, it may be completely wrong.

2. it does get confusing with the wires coming out of the switch but i didnt know which coulours to use. i will be happy to take suggestions on what colours to use

3. check the grounding i think i made a mistake on that.

4. the switch which hould be used is a switchcraft way because it has 4 terminals or somthing. but as i could not find a pic of this switch i have just shown the wiring on the standard one. using 4 lugs.

thanks in advance

I'm on my way into work, so just did a quick glance, but I see one major problem already. Look at the lower volume control. You have both ends of the pot shorted to ground. (Which means, it won't work.) That also shorts that line, which goes to the tone control beside it, permanently to ground.

I'll look it over closer when I get home from work. :)

Re: Another JP wiring thread!

The black and green leads should be hot and ground for the bridgr pickup as well, not the red and white.

I have to go to work but I'll take a look as well.

Kent S. has a SD style diagram of the Gibson schematic, it might be easier just to ask him for it.

Re: Another JP wiring thread!
