I just put some GHS Boomers on and I don't like how slick they are. I like strings that are worn in a little. They're easier to play. My fingers go sliding when I play new strings.
Satch,
For 25 years I used GHS. I found a few years back that they came out of the package with steel smut on them. It is a greasy substance used to keep steel from rusting. It also picks up dirt, in turn called smut. I wrote GHS about the problem and they did not bother to write me back.
I now use DiAddario strings. They are much better than GHS. Try a set and see!![]()
Agreed I like string the best from just after a few hours onwards.A couple hours of play time brings them to just right tone - they usually stay there until they break (if I keep them clean and dry)
I can't stand brand new strings. They sound so bright and horrible. I don't like overly dead strings either, but after a few days of playing where they've lost their edge but still play well is perfect.
