are all pickup mounting rings the same size?

are they universal? id like to change the ones on my jaguar from nlack to cream. can I buy just any one or do they vary in size?

I'm not that familiar with the Jaguar, but I thought the pups were mounted in the pickguard without mounting rings.

No, they differ. Epiphone rings wont fit on a Gibson, for example.

HB pickup cutouts on the rings are standard but the body mounting screw holes come in 2 spacings - standard v metric (Gibson v Epi)

I have no idea what would fit on your guitar, but rings vary widely.

I think I know how to solve this, I'll just call dimarzio and ask themm if they dont know they should know the measurements.

Never mind that. I've got Charvel rings that will not fit on a Charvel ... supplied from the personal stash of a luthier who used to work for the UK Charvel importer.

The hole for the pickup are pretty standard (some F-spaced bucker rings are a bit bigger though). It is the screw hole spacing that is different. At least that has been what has happened when I have tried to replaced some of mine.

In the mid-80's - coinciding with the raised logo covered Jackson pickups (commonly known as wide-body) - Charvel/Jackson sourced special pickup rings to accomodate their wider pickups. These have a different footprint, than say, the standard sized rings you get with a Duncan humbucker.
