Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

ha ha, you're one of those kind of guys. that's pathetic really. i hope you can learn from your mistakes.

No I am just not stupid enough to think I know it all because no matter WHO you are you don't even come close to knowing it all! Not pathetic at all just reality dude.

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

I don't think he could have tried harder than this:

And that was before he knew of your other usernames and accounts.

shogun then barbarian and all the sudden i'm accused of all kinds of treason. you guys have to stop exaggerating things. you blow it way out of proportion. i'm at the point where i'm no longer annoyed by this behavior, but more disgusted.

give me a friggin break man. i'm asking you nicely.

again, i don't think i know it all and never made that claim. please move past whatever little tangent you're on. the reality is that you went off on this assumption that i know everything and i don't know where the hell you came up with it.

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

and yes, there is a difference. if i went around to other people's threads and started harassing them, that would be different than just being a reactive person. i have a short temper and i don't like to be messed with. some people are like that and you have to respect that. if you go and mess with someone who has a short temper, you know what to expect. you can't go around ragging on them for being and ass because of it.

Why?

No, seriously, why should anyone respect you for having a short temper? That's the most asinine thing I've ever heard.

You aren't freaking disabled (that I'm aware of). You want to cite a "short temper" as a license to act like a total dick any time you feel you've been slighted. Screw that, man. That doesn't wash.

  • I can respect the fact that a dude might be really short and not able to reach the top drawer in my fridge. I won't ask him to get the eggs down.
  • I can respect the fact that someone might have asthma and can't help me move. I won't ask them if they have a truck.
  • I can respect the fact that someone might be developmentally disabled and aren't able to memorize their multiplication tables. I won't ask them what 9x8 equals.
These are all things beyond a person's control.

What YOU want respect for is what you call "not taking any crap," which is really just a pass to say whatever you want to people when you feel like it and be removed from any accountability.

I don't respect that at all.

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

no that's not it. again, to clarify what i said, i didn't say that you have to respect me for my short temper. that would be absurd. what i said is that you have to respect that someone HAS as short temper and not jab them too much.

i know other people with short tempers and i don't go messing with them like i do my other friends. with some people you can push farther than others. it's simple. if you respect that, you get along better.

so again i'm asking nicely. please move on and leave me be. i'll try to be helpful and courteous as long as people are the same way to me. that's my rule and that's all i ask from anyone.

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

that's alright, i get rid. if we were talking about networking and computers, i would be running circles around most everyone too.

again, i don't think i know it all and never made that claim. please move past whatever little tangent you're on. the reality is that you went off on this assumption that i know everything and i don't know where the hell you came up with it.

Look above at your exact quote genius!!! How the heck does that not sound pompous and very know it all?

In the grand scheme of things I shouldn't have let this thread hook me and even give a crap about that statement. I honestly thought it was funny in the beginning.

Carry on chief. I see that the locals here really love you!

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

How come when i saw this guys first few posts, i knew would come to this type of thread.

No offense dude because the internet is not always a true representation of people, but you have been rather abbrassive since you got on this forum.

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

Alright, man.

It still seems to me like you're asking for other people to modify their behavior around you despite the fact that you're unwilling to modify yours around them, but...

...my day is almost over. I get to go home, make dinner, and then watch hours of House episodes on DVD with my girlfriend while my dog tries to drink the water out of my glass, and that's what I call a good evening.

So I'm out of this thread for tonight. Take the last word if you want it.

no it doesn't. maybe to you it does, but i'm just direct. i am great at what i do and no one can argue that. not only have i been very successful at it for 15 years, i'm highly decorated as well. if i'm good at something, i can say it and back it up. if i'm not, i don't bother.

this really is pathetic man. i don't need this forum, but when i asked around most people told me not to leave. then i tried to make some friends, but guys like you just want to sit around all day arguing.

i already asked you to move on and you must have ignored that part. maybe you need to evaluate your own behavior. you were wrong about your assumption so just leave it at that and move on. i'm not your enemy. if i was, you would know it.

i'm not asking anyone to modify anything and i don't want to modify mine. all i'm asking you to do is be nice to me and i'll do the same. i've said it time and time again, and even when i introduced my user account. then you have to come along posting stupid crap about people not being wanted at parties and stuff.

why go on? leave it. i'm leaving it. i don't give a **** what happens to this thread or what is said in it from now on. if people don't want me on this forum, that's fine. obviously you don't, and i'm not going to hang around somewhere i'm not liked. i have plenty of real friends and certainly don't need to fight anyone on this forum.

get over it man. i'm not asking anyone for anything except to respect me. i'll do the same. try it and test me out if you want. if you say something brash or harsh to me, you will probably get a brash or harsh reaction. if you say something nice to me, i'll be nice in return. it's simple.

that's because i said "be nice to me and i'll be nice to you" in my opening thread and there were plenty of people who wanted to test it.

As I said before I think it is silly that I let something as meaningless as this hook me.

I very rarely get involved in these types of threads, but sometimes it is fun.

I am sure you are great at what you do and there is nothing wrong with that. I personally choose not to wear what I am good at on my sleeve and make remarks about it in a silly amplifier thread, but when I leave from what I am doing people know that by gosh that guy can get it done.

Either way bro I'll let you get back to what you were doing and I'll end my day and go home and drink a beer and play some guitar!

So tells us more about yourself. Where are you from and what kind of gear do you enjoy?

Greg

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

guys c'mon, lets cut the crap..it's not the sound room..

barbarianbrute,

as with ANY gear review page, you can't HEAR tone by READING reviews..
that's why when i was looking into the CM plexitone, i asked some basic functionality questions..and tried it for myself so I could judge. I suggest the same..
I plugged the plexitone into a marshall 1987X and it was very rocking indeed. Not harsh, smooth overall sound (mine is softer due to it being an earlier version), and somewhat saggy(saturated) bottom end depending on how much gain you goose in.

What i like about this pedal is that acts like a secondary gain channel to your current amp..if you increase the level, not only does volume increase, but you get some more saturation as well. What i mean when i say, "it reacts like an amp" i mean that if you plug into a 1987X, it sounds like a cranked 1987X at lower volumes, if you play a laney lc15r, it sounds like a cranked one at lower volumes..it gets better as you turn it up of course..

nowadays, i don't really use the boost side.
rather, i goose the rhythm channel with a boss super overdrive (level high, gain low)
for leads..
i feel it can get diverse shades of gain with that particular combination..for example, from aerosmith to scorps,whitesnake..

try it through a good british sounding amp..i don't think you'll be dissappointed..if you're into classic tones at least

cool, i'd be happy to tell you guys about myself. thanks for asking. i'm going to post something about myself in the sound room. i know it will open up to a lot of criticism, but i'll try not to respond. hopefully, i can make some friends.

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

@barbarianbrute: I think there's a difference of opinion on what "nice" behavior is. For whatever reason, I personally thought all the responses you got in this thread before you started calling people arrogant a-holes were "nice". In fact, I'd be more than happy to get those kind of posts in my threads all day long. The only mistake they made was expressing personal opinion. And that's the kind of opinion I expect on an online forum.

Does this post sound condescending to you? I hope not. It's not meant that way. More of a heartfelt sharing of personal opinion.

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

calling me a troll now pierre? oh, it must have been that I LOVE AMERICA statement i made that pissed you off bad enough to migrate here to the amplifier forum and insult me.

Sorry, by this I only meant that my contribution would likely be totally ignored, and that there was no need for people to mention it to me :D Funny thing is, you actually showed me I was right :D I didn't mean to imply you were a troll (though I think so), I was only using the expression as a whole.

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

You know what? This thread has gone to sh*t and got flushed completely down the goddamm drain. Everybody just hit the Log Out button, go away, and come back when you're all calmed down.

not at all man, and i appreciate it.

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

Does big gay al need to come in and get everybody mad at him?

Barbarian, take a break brosif. You're not a bad person like KG said, not a bad person at all. But you sure as hell could use a little break. I think you take people the wrong way, and you're right, now they're probably legitimately unhappy with you. But in the beginning nobody was really being un-nice to you, they were just being themselves. ;)

Seriously though, this is a good group of people and they're there to help, even if they are slightly rough around the edges sometimes. But we're guys, who's perfect? Besides bi-gal that is.
