Are you a Tele/Strat/LP/SG/PRS/... guy gal?

Re: Are you a Tele/Strat/LP/SG/PRS/... guy gal?

My only decent guitar is a strat, and im fine. I really don't play that many covers that i need to cop-a-tone off of the real songs, my band is simply a blues/jazz jam band, so i dont worry about that.
The strat has an unconventional quack sound that i could tame by rolling off my middle pup's tone (controls are set with a neck tone, and a middle/bridge tone) leaving a fat articulate sound that can't be beat!

My preference changes by the hour.

Last night at 6pm, I was in the tele zone. By 10pm, I was all about my 76 strat. in a couple of days' time, I'll be honking away on my PRS.

I could easily find room to love a semi-hollow, a good Les Paul, and a danelectro, too.

But I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm a p90 guy waiting to happen.

Deep down inside I'm most attached to my Dean EVO 7 string ... Strange since I haven't played it in a long time

strats. They are sooooooo comfortable. Soo light. I just got an sx strat and i love it. Too bad i cannot afford an american deluxe hss strat. I want one bad. Oh well.

PRS hands down.

Re: Are you a Tele/Strat/LP/SG/PRS/... guy gal?

Use to swear by Les Pauls...but lately my hands have been cheating on Gibson with Strats. :) They're naughty!! ...but they know what feels good.

Telecasters are the most simple, comfortable, best sounding, and tough guitars ever made. They rock.

Well **** if real men play LP then so do I :)

nah, real men play teles. LPs are for pussies.

In case you're wondering, I'm only half joking, here...

Re: Are you a Tele/Strat/LP/SG/PRS/... guy gal?

So far I've historically been a Tele/Strat kind of guy, but I'm getting really keen on getting a Gibby style guitar of some sort.

Re: Are you a Tele/Strat/LP/SG/PRS/... guy gal?

Wow, this thread is back from the dead :D

I'm a super strat man at heart. I love jangly cleans, but love thick, fat distortion. I love that quack that only a great strat can give. I never liked the looks of strats originally, but now they're probably my favorite. Not sure what snapped, but when I played a strat, I found everything I was trying to get out of a Les Paul. I just couldn't become inspired by LPs, no matter how hard I tried.

My second love are 335 styled guitars. I like the airiness that surrounds the humbuckers. I dig the smooth, fat, dark jazz tones. It works for rock and roll as well, and I LOVE the looks of those type of guitars.

Re: Are you a Tele/Strat/LP/SG/PRS/... guy gal?

i dont really envision myself as a 1 guitar type of guy (i only own 2, but someday ill have a small collection). I really like strats, teles, and 335's.

if i had only 1 guitar, itd def. be an acoustic.

electric wise, 1 guitar, strat for sure. Not hot rodded either, classic setup, as vintage sounding (either pups or a vintage guitar) as i could get it.

Re: Are you a Tele/Strat/LP/SG/PRS/... guy gal?

Because I missed it from it's first go-round and it's first reanimation as a zombie thread...

I'm more of an LP guy. They're comfortable, they sound great, look great, and the switching and control layout seems to make the most sense for what I ask a guitar to do. So much so, that I redid my Tele's controls to reflect what I like about LP controls.
