bad deluxe reverb problems

so I bought this used last year and it played well for a while and then lost its reverb. I just got it repaired and the tech said that he needed to repalce some caps and other stuff and that there were a lot of problems even before the reverb stage. He said he fixed it though. I got it back and played it for an hour or so, sounded fine with reverb, and all of sudden loud continuous rustling/fuzzing came on. I only kept the volume on for a couple of seconds and when I cut it off the sound went away. I turned it back up and heard a reverb pop and then quickly turned off the amp. sounds like something burned out. anyone know whats going on? I'm definitely going to take it back to the tech...

Take it back to the tech..... my 65 Deluxe i bought in rough non-working condition... it went to a tech first thing for repairs... My note to the tech said just add new tubes and get it running, i didn't specify how much money to spend or anything. after a few hours of playing time when i got it back i noticed funny odd things happening... took it back and the tech ended up having to replace most of the Caps.... He also had to replace the new tubes in it as something in the amp was allowing higher voltage at the tubes.... i did notice the amp felt really hot... anyways the tubes were gone!

Re: bad deluxe reverb problems

It's a reissue. I'm taking it straight to the tech but it's labor day weekend and it might take a couple days. I just wanted to see if I could find out what was happening.

anyway I turned on the amp today with the reverb disconnected. No problems now it played fine. I then connected the reverb and it played fine again, the reverb worked. No hissing at all. what does this mean? I think maybe something overheated last night because I was playing for over an hour and today I only played for a minute to test it out.

Its possible that once it gets warmed up something might be causing some trouble.. Only the tech will no for sure, but in some cases it may just be a dirty jack. By pulling and pushing the jacks in/out it will clean any carbon build up and eliminate the noise IF THIS IS THE PROBLEM. It would still be worth your effort to take it back to the tech!
