Batteries in your pedals or wall power of some sort??

Re: Batteries in your pedals or wall power of some sort??

Mine is all mains powered, i cant afford to keep replacing batteries and making sure I unplug everything. Half of my pedals only run off mains anyway. Plus batteries are bad for the environment.

Re: Batteries in your pedals or wall power of some sort??

Once I got a One Spot I never looked back to batteries . . .

Re: Batteries in your pedals or wall power of some sort??

thanks for the info guys! i ask because i'm thinking of building a limited run (a very small batch of 10 or less) of my "Monroe Drive" pedal to sell and i'm considering doing it just like i did my own and not putting a 9v in it. although i can make external 9v adaptors that will plug into the boss style power plug which will be on the side pedal. it would make for real fast battery swaps since the 9v will be sitting outside the pedal LOL. or perhaps offer "wall wart" style 12v plugs to run them off. or i could put it in a slightly larger enclosure and have the silly 9v in it :9: i'm still just thinking.

Re: Batteries in your pedals or wall power of some sort??

I run all my pedals on batteries live. I hate messin with the pedal board needing to be plugged in.

I'm the exact opposite. I love the ease of my one-spot, I keep my pedals plugged into it at all times, so I don't have to yank 'em off the pedalboard that they are velcro'ed to in order to change batteries... that's too much work.

Re: Batteries in your pedals or wall power of some sort??

I think I WOULD mind not being able to use a battery, simply because I've been places where plugging in wouldn't be an option.

I figure if I can plug my amp in, i can almost ALWAYS plug my one-spot in as well.

ding ding ding...we have a winner lol. that's how i feel. i don't like to run pedal off batteries, it just seems wrong for some reason and a waste of money on all those batteries that get thrown out where after a few months you could have bought a 1 spot with that money you used for batteries.

Visual Sound OneSpot. It is so inexpensive, and it is really powerful. Now that I have been using it for a while, I always consult the compatibility chart at their website before purchasing a new pedal.

I use a DC Brick, and your statement is the same reason I got a power supply. When I play guitar, I want to put my guitar on, let my amp power up, tune up, flip the standby switch, and get to it. I hate putzing around w/ batteries.

Re: Batteries in your pedals or wall power of some sort??

I’m curious, how many of you use batteries in your pedals and how many use some form of wall power (meaning anything other than a battery)? Also if you were to buy a pedal would you care if it did NOT hold a 9v battery in it and only ran off a boss style power plug? -Mike

I use both. My ME-50 has space for six AA batteries, and I use wall power while at church. If it should get unplugged, it will continue working (barring 12 hours of play time on the batteries).

Re: Batteries in your pedals or wall power of some sort??

I think I'm gonna get myself a OneSpot. I'm using batteries right now and too often forget to unplug the cable. :banghead:

Re: Batteries in your pedals or wall power of some sort??

1-Spot

For what 9V batteries cost, this thing has already paid for itself. I bought it around Oct-Nov of 2006.

As I said before, the DD6 and the Visual Volume are batt-eaters. The former will eat a battery in about 5 hours (or less).

Re: Batteries in your pedals or wall power of some sort??

Different power sources for different pedals:

1) Pedal Power 2 (Voltage set for 240V)
2) Pedal Power (Voltage set for 120V)
Play overseas and USA...

Step up transformer for switching Carl Martin Plexitone to 220V, when playing in USA
Step down transformer for switching voltage down on Tonebone Trimode when playing overseas.

Brick for some Fulltone pedals that can use 18V (OCD)

RCM3 off of battery

+1 for the 1 spot.

I have a digitech whammy on my board that has to be plugged in anways...

Got the 1 Spot and never looked back. Everyone should have one. You'll never have to worry about changing batteries or unplugging each pedal on your board again...

Re: Batteries in your pedals or wall power of some sort??

I use wall power but I think batteries sound better...

You have a disease or something :)

I'm a battery person although I always have this fear that it'll run out on me in the worst moment.

Re: Batteries in your pedals or wall power of some sort??

thanks for the info guys. i'm still tying to decide if i want to do a run of these pedals or not.
