Best way to attach odd ball pedals

Im working on a new pedal board...Im gonna use velcro, tie wraps, wire clamps, etc...BUT!

What to I do with the Wah pedal and the other pedals that have the rubber feet on them?

I was thinking about counter sinking them down into the board, and putting velcro on the bottom plate?

What do you guys do???

I needed real advise, the next time I wand to make a canoe out of a pencil or a cd player using a vibrator, some chicken wire and some duct tape I'll ask myself WWMD.

But thanks!!!

Re: Best way to attach odd ball pedals

what is the board made of and how permanent do you want the pedal placement?

Re: Best way to attach odd ball pedals

Ideally, wah pedals should have a wah platform under them, which is just a piece of plywood that's the right size, with 4 holes drilled in it where the feet fall into, and it's main purpose is to raise the wah's input jack above the board's lip. Cover it with ozite fuzzy carpet and use 3M industrial velcro to attach it. If your input jack clearance isn't an issue, can you just remove the feet and drive the screws all the way in?

Re: Best way to attach odd ball pedals

You just reminded me of something. I have a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe on it's way, since I sold my Budda Bud Wah yesterday. I hope the feet are spaced standard, because my wah platform has 4 holes, designed for regular wahs. When the feet fall into the holes, it also keeps the pedal from shifting with hard wah useage.

Re: Best way to attach odd ball pedals

Go to Radio Shack and buy this stuff called surelock. Its like velcro but more secure. It is made of plastic on both sides and they lock together with sticky surfaces on the pedalboard and the other on your wah. If 1 strip isnt enough then add 2. I use it on all my pedalboard stuff and you can turn it upside down without anything even moving unless you pry it off with a little bit of elbow grease. I have been using this stuff for 10 years and it works great.

Goodcall! Thats what I needed, thatnk GJ. See I was gonna just put 4 holes down into the board, but I like your ides better (Same results, but your idea sounds better to me).

Already got it! I use it on ALL my pedal boards.

Re: Best way to attach odd ball pedals

All you need to do is unscrew the rubber feet, remove the rubber grommets from the screws, and then put the screws back on without the feet. Then use the surelock stuff from Radioshack. Assuming that you're using a power supply, since changing batteries after that is not much fun...

I hate to resurrect a dead thread, but I thought this link would make it worth it. I know I'm going to buy one of these.

That kick ass...now if they just made one for an Axis fuzz...BUT, (and I just had this idea lastnight!!!)...part of what I do for a living involves metal work...I am gonna make a few playes for my way, my axis, amd maybe a few others as well!!!

Thanks guys

Re: Best way to attach odd ball pedals

I made my board out of plywood. I covered the plywood with a black vinyl covering. The kind that they use to cover boat seats. Velcro was pulling up the vinyl, so I used some ½" round stock and pressed it up against the pedals tight enough that they wouldn't move yet if I grab a hold of the pedal I can lift it off the board. Then I just used some deck screws and screwed the ½" stock to the board. It works real well, and I have no movement at all.

Nice mallrats reference!!!

Re: Best way to attach odd ball pedals

Im really thinking hard about this DIY pedal board thing. I think I will get some flat stock sheet metal and use them to make some "new" bottoms for all my pedals with feet. Then using sure lock or dual lock (same thing really) put all the pedals on the board (currently plywood...but this might change), and them Im gonna put some handles a power supply of sorts, and a few other things...I'll keep you guys posted, hopefully this will be done soon and will turn out pretty nice!

Re: Best way to attach odd ball pedals

Another thing crowded pedalboards can benefit from is an extra level (tier).
That way, the power supply, wallwarts, and wound up cables can be hidden, making the pedalboard much cleaner to look at. Besides the industrial grade velcro,
I like to use colored zipties, to keep all the cords secure, so nothing comes undone from the pedals, in transit, and to add a pro-wired look to it.
