Well...the Billy Bo Jupiter Thunderbird Build fell through due to a defective body from an eBay deal upon which I got screwed...I had all the parts with the exception of a body (and now tuning pegs) so I salvaged what I had and picked up an '87 RG440 Body to go with the HM Neck for a "Frankenstein-Mutt" Build...only problem is that EVERY TIME I look at that Deep Wine Burst Finish it's screaming MAPLE FRETBOARD NECK at me!!!

1998 Squier HM Strat Rosewood Neck w/Reverse Headstock and 22 Jumbo Frets, Headstock Re-logo w/”Frankenstein” Decal, Original Neck Hardware w/Upgraded “Jackson” Tuning Pegs, “Schecter Guitar Research, Sun Valley, California USA” Neck Plate, 1987 Ibanez RG440 Deep Wine Roadstar II Basswood Body w/Original Pickguard & Jack Cavity Cover, Fender Custom Shop ’54/Seymour Duncan Antiquity Texas Hot RWRP/Pre-2004 Seymour Duncan Custom Shop Maricela Juarez Wound “Evenly Voiced Harmonics” Trembucker, DiMarzio 500k Volume/Fender TBX Tone/DiMarzio 5 Way Strat Selector/Cannon Jack, DiMarzio Clip Lock Strap in Black

Re: Billy Bo Crash N Burn Salvage Build

I just looked in the other thread to see what happened with the Floyded Billy Bo since I was curious how that wild thing would turn out and the Billy Bo body was routed for a Schaller Floyd, not an Original Floyd. It wasn't mis-routed, it was mis-listed as having an OFR route when it had a Schaller route.

This would have fit that route... http://www.musik-produktiv.com/pic-003089090l/schaller-floyd-rose-ii-chrom.jpg

The Schaller Floyd uses a different route compared to the Original and the Gotoh which share a route shape but have different bushing hole sizes.

I wish I had that knowledge going into the purchase. I was completely let down as I was really looking forward to completing that Oddball Build. ;)

I know and let me say that out loud, I love the shape. I just don't think clicked well with that Billy Bo flipper, it just looks way more coherent with the Roadstar. I would love to see it on a Fender Prodigy instead.

Re: Billy Bo Crash N Burn Salvage Build

Really? That's funny because the shape of each was why I picked up both and was hot to pair 'em together. Interesting. I'm still getting use to it on the RG440 Body but it's growing on me. The HM was in good shape and the jumbo frets are virtually unused, back shape feels comfy and I sanded the sticky gloss finish down to a satin smoothness. I think it'll be a nice player.

Ha...the Fender Prodigy...I see those pop up from time to time...usually overpriced and beat. They were a cool concept, although I never liked the pickguard mounted input jack.

Man...I think the Guitar Gods are telling me to stop with the projects!!! ;) I've got all the parts I need for the build...with the exception of the Fender Custom Shop '54 Neck Pickup...which has been in the Denver Metro Area since June 10th and has bounced back and forth between a USPS Denver Sort Facility and an incorrect Englewood Post Office.

After watching it "ping pong" back and forth between these offices and 4 calls this week to the USPS Post Office to which it should have been going they finally were able to a) locate the package, and, b) pull it out of the delivery cycle...no idea why it was in this endless loop though -maybe a problem w/the bar coding, possible computer system problem with their automated sort/ship process, address label may have gotten damaged...one of the Postal Employees simply told me finding the package would be the equivalent of "finding a needle in a haystack".

So "thank you" to "Joe" at the USPS Greenwood Village Office for "owning the problem" and actually tracking the package down and pulling it for me to pick up on the way home. He actually did the job that 3 of his co-workers either were too lazy or too stupid to actually put forth the effort and accomplish. G*d Damn!!!

Dude, no kidding? Same thing happened to me with one of my college textbooks last year. Kept getting cycled through frickin' Englewood. I ended up having them hold it there and drove down. Ugh.

Same crap Man. Something is rotten in USPS Denver/Englewood! Sucks waiting as it is but when something obviously wrong is occurring and you keep hearing there's "nothing that can be done" it's 10x worse. Mucho Suckage!!! At least I'll be able to pick it up.

Re: Billy Bo Crash N Burn Salvage Build

Funny story/coincidence, today being the same day we bantered about lost USPS items, literally 2 hours later they lost my 59/custom hybrid in the mail, LOL. At least they got it sorted and I picked it up from the office. Anyway...

The way that burst fades into the color of the pickguard blows my mind. That's so killer man.

Re: Billy Bo Crash N Burn Salvage Build

Ha! Figures right? At least you were able to find it quickly.

Thanks; I'm just wanting to get the damn thing together and plug it in at this point!

Hey...see you have a Tacoma too...how do you like it?

Re: Billy Bo Crash N Burn Salvage Build

To be honest I don't play it as much as I should. But it sounds spectacular to me. Slightly boxy sounding, in a desireable and warm way, but still very big sounding too. Great for fingerpicking. And the bolt on neck plays like a jazz guitar, very quick feeling for an acoustic. i scored it in a trade for a Fender Starcaster
What model do you have?
