Billy Bo Crash N Burn Salvage Build

Re: Billy Bo Crash N Burn Salvage Build

Sounds nice. It has a bolt on neck? I'll have to take a closer look at those. I have an EKK9.

What did you do with the body?

Re: Billy Bo Crash N Burn Salvage Build

Just sent you an e-mail...I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THE MANUFACTURER/SELLER OF THE BILLY BO BODY TO ANYONE!!!

Re: Billy Bo Crash N Burn Salvage Build

Inquiring minds wanna know...

Well Hell...alright...I purchased the Billy Bo Body "in good faith" under the indication per the text of the listing that it was routed for a "Floyd Rose" (eBay listing text below) and got into painting it etc. and then got the OFR only to find it didn't fit as there was a good 1/4"-3/8" of wood under the full length of the bass strings side base plate...attempted a return via eBay and the seller (Member id wendiramone.501) had a stated Return Policy so I figured it was fine...but...lesson learned by me...seller counter claimed that he/she shouldn't have to accept the return since I had "altered" the body by painting it - I countered that I had begun work on my project in "good faith" that the item was "as represented" in the eBay Listing to begin with so the routing issue was either a) misrepresented, and/or, b) defective workmanship to begin with...the eBay Gods deemed "altering" after receipt to be a more serious issue than "misrepresentation/defective" in the original listing...so I was out $85.00 for the purchase/shipping initially and another $15.00 return shipping as, per eBay policy...I returned the item to the seller and, as eBay sided with the seller...the seller was not obligated to return the item to me.

"superior grade alder, 2 piece guitar body discounted due to some minor blemishes, routed for a Floyd Rose Tremolo , one of the post holes was off so had to be doweled & redrilled see pics, but its correct, also the Floyd bridge pictured is NOT INCLUDED in this sale... Its just shown for demonstration the neck pocket is 5/8 deep, & fits a flat heal, Tele style neck.. 1 full sized humbucker pickup, a print will be sent along for the control cover to make one.. Has 1/4 wire "tunnel" holes drilled also have a reverse version of this style, will require a bit of fine sanding, & sealer before finishing.. will ship internationally for additional postage, contact me for rates. I also have this model available in mahogany, as well as chambered, maple tops, & binding... Contact me for details... also see my other listings for more discounted shop clear outs..."

A Forum Bro who is a builder opined the body was actually routed for a Schaller Floyd, not an OFR, and that was the issue. At any rate, I stand behind my "I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THE SELLER" comment - Member id wendiramone.501. What's worse is the Seller was rude to communicate with from the get go when I inquired about shipping/tracking info on it after 4-5 days passed post-auction.

But, it's done. "Buyer Beware"and never start work on a build until you have ALL the parts and test fit EVERYTHING right?

Bummer 'bout teh Gumby-thingie,but the Ibby is looking pretty damn sweet!

Too bad about the Schaller/OFR mix up,I "guess" it may have been an honest mistake, but didn't warrant the dicky CS...

Thanx for the Head's Up,& play the Hell outta the Ibby!

Wait, same guitar, different neck, or is the other picture somehow not yours even with the same carpet and dresser?

Re: Billy Bo Crash N Burn Salvage Build

Ha...honestly...this just gets better and better. ;) I had dropped the guitar off to the luthier I've been using for the past 2+ years and called late morning to see where he was on the project...reached vm which was odd to begin with as he almost always answers as it's a small shop, but, the vm stated that "he would no longer be accepting any new repair work for an indefinite amount of time but if you already had an item with him to check the website or leave a message". Odd right?

I called again mid-afternoon and got the same message...so I'm thinking...he's going out of business. Stopped by on my way home and there was a sign on the door that said "not accepting any new repair work for an indefinite period of time - too much work, not enough manpower" so I walked in and joked with him about my concern and that I was glad to hear it is too much business rather than not enough.

He's a young guy (late 20's), family man with a couple little kids, and, a third generation luthier. He does quality work at a fair price plus he's a decent guy. Said he has so many restoration projects that he's understaffed for repair work so he didn't know when he'd be able to get to my guitar...21 days minimum...so I brought it home and figured I'd wait and take it back.

In the meantime, I was screwing around with another "parts guitar" that I had assembled for my son but one of the posts developed a bit of a lean and will need attention, so I snagged the '91 RG-550R Neck and '86 First Year Edge off it so see what this thing would look like if I built it out mor or less Stock Ibby Style as it originally was manufactured. Since it's not going together for a while we'll see which way it goes...WHICH DO YOU LIKE BETTER?

I really do like the look of "The Dark Version"...but it's still screaming MAPLE NECK!!! May have to sell the Frankenstein HM Neck and find a suitable Strat Head or Reverse Strat Head Maple Board.
