Re: Blasphemy ! Gibson did it again
keep the floyd, swiss cheese and chambers and give me those contours ftw! now THAT is what they should have been doing ages ago!
And then the purists would still ***** and moan about Gibson selling out and copying Fender.
It doesn´t matter what they do, they can´t win with most detractors on the internet until they offer the exact guitar that they have always wanted since they were seven, perfectly constructed of the absolute rarest and highest grade materials, for under 1000 USD MSRP so that every kid with 2 months allowance saved up can afford one if his birthday is next month.
And they probably realized that years ago, and realized that trying to cater to this demographic would put them belly up in probably under 5 years, and said "Hey, how about we just tell these people to go fornicate themselves because thy´ll never buy one anyway and just keep doing what we´ve been doing? I mean, we´re doing well as a business, sales are going up rather than down for the most part... so why change it? Toss out a small run of a new idea every so often so that the people have something to whine about when they´re not flaming each other over flame maple or birdseye spacers in their PAF´s, and it´s free advertising as well... and if they sell like hotcakes maybe we´ll make more of them.."
And that was probably the best Idea they ever had
Everybody´s constantly ragging on them, some digs more valid than others and of course some that just reek of BS. And by doing so Gibson is probably one of
the most often typed words on a guitar releated Forum. THAT my friends is advertising in perfection, because it´s ever present and subliminal because you don´t think it´s affecting you but it most definitely is. The constant controversy causes thousands of people worldwide to try a Gibson just to see what all the flaming is about, even if it´s not somethign they´d normally play. And as we all know when you pick up and play that one perfect axe you can suddenly become a customer, or at least begin to lust after one.
