Blasphemy ! Gibson did it again

Re: Blasphemy ! Gibson did it again

Does no one remember this short lived model from the 80's. This ain't the first time Gibsons done this, although this time around it's much better as far as construction goes.

Re: Blasphemy ! Gibson did it again

There is no justifying the prices Gibson charges these days.

Yes there is. As long as enough people are willing to pay that kind of money to keep Gibson in the black, it is justified. When there are no longer enough people willing to pay that much money, it will no longer be justified and the price will come down.

Re: Blasphemy ! Gibson did it again

The choice of humbuckers kinda ... forgets the modern vibe the rest of the guitar is going for. That with the price of the guitar, and Gibson's recent track record for weird, wacky bull**** designs, this is a fail in my book.

Re: Blasphemy ! Gibson did it again

OMG - who cares! Frehley sanded down a 72/73 deluxe in the early 70's! and people have been putting Khalers on since the 80's. As for the contours, LP Custom Lite anyone?!?!?!?

Whoo Hoo.

Re: Blasphemy ! Gibson did it again

Not as bad as that video showing those kooks destroying perfectly good LP bodies so they can salvage the necks and "convert" them in a similar fashion and fancy up the maple tops.

Burst doesn't match. Price is ridiculous. Hard tail option might be interesting. Tuners look out of place. Still someone will buy it. <stops beating dead horse>

Re: Blasphemy ! Gibson did it again

Tony is using a Floyd? Now thats blasphemy! Finally, he will be playing the intro to Iron man the way I do.. hee hee

Tony-Iommi_3.jpg

Notice: A Floyd AND 24 frets!

I don't hate the Axcess...but it's not for me........

Re: Blasphemy ! Gibson did it again

This pic makes me laugh and/or cringe. It's like it's from one of those "look what some dope on eBay did to a perfectly good LP, get the torches and pitchforks" kinda thread.

keep the floyd, swiss cheese and chambers and give me those contours ftw! now THAT is what they should have been doing ages ago!

Re: Blasphemy ! Gibson did it again

Sorry, I'm not getting the "travesty" of this. What's the problem? I think Gibson has problems, but no more than any of the other companies. I'm not tracking, I guess...

Re: Blasphemy ! Gibson did it again

I got to try one out a few months ago at GC and it was pretty nice, especially the contouring at the neck/body joint. Honestly, it's probably the only LP that I'd be interested in owning. Apparently Alex Lifeson likes a Floyd'd LP, too. Search around and you'll find some pics of him with one.

And then the purists would still ***** and moan about Gibson selling out and copying Fender.

It doesn´t matter what they do, they can´t win with most detractors on the internet until they offer the exact guitar that they have always wanted since they were seven, perfectly constructed of the absolute rarest and highest grade materials, for under 1000 USD MSRP so that every kid with 2 months allowance saved up can afford one if his birthday is next month.

And they probably realized that years ago, and realized that trying to cater to this demographic would put them belly up in probably under 5 years, and said "Hey, how about we just tell these people to go fornicate themselves because thy´ll never buy one anyway and just keep doing what we´ve been doing? I mean, we´re doing well as a business, sales are going up rather than down for the most part... so why change it? Toss out a small run of a new idea every so often so that the people have something to whine about when they´re not flaming each other over flame maple or birdseye spacers in their PAF´s, and it´s free advertising as well... and if they sell like hotcakes maybe we´ll make more of them.."

And that was probably the best Idea they ever had :)

Everybody´s constantly ragging on them, some digs more valid than others and of course some that just reek of BS. And by doing so Gibson is probably one of the most often typed words on a guitar releated Forum. THAT my friends is advertising in perfection, because it´s ever present and subliminal because you don´t think it´s affecting you but it most definitely is. The constant controversy causes thousands of people worldwide to try a Gibson just to see what all the flaming is about, even if it´s not somethign they´d normally play. And as we all know when you pick up and play that one perfect axe you can suddenly become a customer, or at least begin to lust after one. ;)
