Body painted.

It's not perfect, but It'll do....maybe.
I need to do a few touch ups where the paint got thin on the upper horn and a couple primer streaks here and there. Also. some of the black isn't as smooth as I'd like it to be. It's kind of thick and bumpy. Maybe wet sand it down with high grit paper? If none of that helps, I may end up doing this again.

Re: Body painted.

ya Id definitely either try it again or a wet sand. Love the look of the paint though

Most of what looks like bumps in the pic are water droplets. There are some paint globs mixed in though. I'm thinking of hitting it 1000 grit paper in the next couple days. We'll see.

Re: Body painted.

Did you spin it after pulling it out to try to get as much water off as possible?

Re: Body painted.

Touch up the primer streaks with the dark stain, then sand?

Re: Body painted.

Dude I think it looks awesome! I would try to sand it and maybe using some stain or something before redoing it..?

Re: Body painted.

Not sure about stain, but I do have paint left. I may hit the streaks and spots with a small brush before giving it a light sand. Really hoping it works.

Re: Body painted.

Very cool.

Judging from your experience, were I to do the same, I might have already put on a base coat of black and scuff sanded it. :hmmm

ETA: To repair what you've got, I'd say either paint it by hand, or mask it and shoot it with a compatible rattlecan, then a few coats of clear.

Not a bad idea. In fact, I'd say use black or red primer if you aren't going to have white in the swirl.

That's a great idea. Thanks!

Now I'm contemplating doing it over.

Re: Body painted.

i guess im the odd one out that kinda digs the white in the swirl. it is a good idea if you wanna be just orange black to do a black primer

Re: Body painted.

Decided to give the touch up route a shot first. If I can get the touch-ups to smooth out, I may just go with it.
