Boogie DC5 Head or Stiletto Deuce ?

Greetings All

Sold one of the Marshalls and am considering a Boogie DC5 head. Anyone out there got an opinion, Harmony Central swings both ways (dont they always). Looking for a good bluesy crunch on the rhythm channel which will clean up with rolling back on the volume and a good lead sound. The old Studio 22 is not really loud enough and the shared eq means you can't get a footswitch between two good sounds. Figured the DC5 with it's seperate eq might get around that. Also considering a Stiletto or maybe a Solo 50 Recto but they are more than I want to spend. Need a good middle ground as well as a nice clean and screaming lead tone, play classic rock and a bit of blues mostly.
Still got the 50 watt Marshall though !.

I couldn't comment on the DC series, but the Stilletto is a beafed up Marshall sound. You may want to take a look at the F-Series, they are pretty adept at the bluesy crunch you mentioned with exceptional cleans. Their best sounds are middle of the road gain levels (crunchy, warm, yet articulate) but still have plenty of gain and can sound pretty rude with the contour mode.

...and they are more reasonably priced.

the stiletto combo I heard had a great tone but again it is a beefed up marshall tone.

I used to have a DC5, but I upgraded to the DC10 212 combo. Seeing as you're at home with setting the controls on your studio 22 I'd vote for the DC5. When I had mine I found it did the pushed breakup thing really easily but the eq'ing became more crucial. As soon as that gain control is "pulled" you might find yourself having to scale back the bass end more than you'd normally think.....anyway, seeing as the other dudes voted Stiletto (which I haven't tried) I'm voting DC5. Oh, and it's hellishly loud, too. Footswitchable graphic gives it an assignable potential for volume boost/cut or just a pseudo "B channel" for clean and lead.
