Does anyone know of a site that could host my Z clips?

Luke

Send em to Dr. Z

If they like em, they might use em their site. That would be way cool.

My pride and joy is a Harry Joyce Custom 30....all handmade by the guy that used to make all the great old Hiwatt amps. The thing is a beauty.

Ohhh OK! I actually saw one of his amps in a shop in Boston last year, it looked suspiciously like a HIWATT, now I know why! Thanks.

Don't you have to be good to get that kind of exposure?? :laugh2:

My clips would be using the Maz Jr in a atypical way compared to their clips.

Re: Boutique Amps?

You can email me your clips. I'll host them for you on my site any time. Just warn me before you send them so I can be ready as my email has a limit.

Don't sell yourself short. It would be cool if they had a user sound-clip page. I think it's more real world. Let's hear what their amps sound like when the real users buy them.

Re: Boutique Amps?

Okay, I have been bitten by the amp bug and I have gotten to play a lot of booteek stuff as of late. I was sort of in a Vox state of mind and the very best Voxy amp I could find was the Trem Cat Bad Cat. Great amp, but it was only a single channel and I slowly developed a need for a channel switcher. Also, the entire time I kept gravitating back to my 6L6 amps. I guess I wasn't into the Vox thing as much as I thought. Probably should have bought a Valvetronix head and been done with it.

I've played through Bruno's, Dr. Z's, Carr's, Two Rocks, Bad Cats', Tone King's, you name it. Settled on the Two Rock Custom Reverb as my main amp. I've only had it a few days, but so far, it's blowing me away. Classic Fender blackface and tweed tones on the clean channel but with its own twist and a sweet Dumble Overdrive on the lead channel. Hopefully it'll be a keeper.

Corksniffin' booteek stuff is pretty cool, but ya gotta try as many as possible to find the perfect one. Most of these guys will help you get the tone your after with a few tweaks. Customer service is normally first rate as well. You definitely get what you pay for. The trannies are all upgraded, top of the line stuff. the other components are as well. If you can afford it, it's a great way to go.

One step down might be some of the point to point stuff that Fender and Marshall are offering, step down in that they are mass produced, but handwired. Vox has that handwired AC30 that is pretty cool as well, but at 2500-3000 you can find better tones IMHO.

I have to disagree, they're about as huge as Bogner, maybe even smaller, thus Framus, they're also handwired with quality pieces so I consider them boutique. I've heard both old and new Multitones, great amps, but they're not very common on the international market. Here in Holland we can get the Powertone II (the best Koch amp ever made IMO) for like a 100 bucks less than the Framus Cobra and way less than you guys. But a popular magazine here rated them almost as high as the Bogner Uberschall in quality :saeek:

I'd take any model Koch over any model of Bogner. I have one of the old multitones and the thing is going to be with me for life.

Wish i could say the same. My Multitone was my first nice tube amp but I greatly preferred my Rivera and Soldano so I sold the Koch. I really liked the ultra-gain channel but didn't get so excited about the other two channels, especially the middle one (not enough crunch for my taste).

Curiously enough, the guy who bought my Multitone (and loves it) sold me the Rivera that prompted its sale. :)

I hope to get a Fuchs this spring and might end up selling the Soldano to make room for the new Peters Dual Channel amp.

"Hi, my name is Alec and I'm a cork sniffer". :p
